Update: Bumped to the top. Along with Super Mario Bros., Doom, Pac-Man, Pong, Tetris, and World of Warcraft are being inducted.
Super Mario Bros. has been inducted into the World Video Game Hall of Fame, Nintendo has announced.
A committee of journalists, scholars and video game industry members made the decision to honor the classic NES title. Games selected for recognition are based on the criteria of icon-status, longevity, geographical reach, and influence.
Super Mario Bros. is one of six titles being inducted into the inaugural class in the World Video Game Hall of Fame at the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York.

Kevin Pereira, who is perhaps best known for his time on the G4 television program Attack of the Show, may be hosting the Nintendo World Championships 2015.
Pereira wrote the following on his Twitter account earlier today:
Forget the boat. See you at E3! #Nintendo #NWC pic.twitter.com/MWax5qwTP5
— Kevin Pereira (@Attack) June 4, 2015
Assuming I’m not reading into this too much, Pereira could be hosting the Nintendo World Championships. Geoff Keighley was thought to be a potential host since he led the way on last year’s Smash Bros. Invitational, though he could be too preoccupied with YouTube’s new Live at E3 initiative. I suppose we’ll find out soon enough!
Thanks to Antonio E for the tip.

The 2015 Japan Expo will take place in Paris between July 2 and July 5.
