IE Online Entertainment’s first project as an indie developer will be “Super Cordon Bleu”, the company announced today. The game is described as “a classic 2D platformer inspired by the original Super Mario Bros. series.” Precision platforming will come into play “that will hopefully test the skills of even the most hard core game masters while still providing enough charm and fun for even the most novice of gamers.”
IE Online Entertainment intends to launch a Kickstarter sometime in the future. Even if the target isn’t met, the studio tells us that Super Cordon Bleu will be completed and the title will release on both Wii U and Steam.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is jam-packed with collaborations with other franchises. Recently, SEGA announced that the game would see a crossover with Sonic the Hedgehog. Players will be able to dress felynes in Sonic armor, and there’s also a guild card based on the Green Hill Zone.
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate producer Ryozo Tsujimoto explained to Siliconera how the collaboration with SEGA came to be. He said:
“There are actually a few people at Sega that we’re pretty close to. We were chatting and thinking if there was something we could do together—some kind of collaboration. Then we settled on Sonic, ultimately, because he’s not only popular here in Japan, he’s also extremely popular overseas.”
“Since we’re doing an overseas version of this game, it made sense to do some sort of collaborative crossover that would make sense globally. So I had an associate of mine at Sega introduce me to the person in charge [of licensing]. We shook hands, made the deal, and there you go.”
A listing on Nintendo’s website confirms that Lone Survivor: The Director’s Cut is launching in North America next week. The game is due out on October 16. Curve Studios intends to release Lone Survivor on the same day in Europe, as we discovered a few days ago.
For the first time since its launch, Wii U will not be receiving any Assassin’s Creed games. This is in part due to sales. In the case of Assassin’s Creed Unity, it’s also a result of the Wii U being a bit underpowered when compared to other consoles.
Ubisoft creative director Alex Amancio explained to RedBull:
“It couldn’t, it really couldn’t. I mean this is why we from the beginning, this was going to be a new-gen-only title, because the crowds aren’t aesthetic, they actually have impact. If we did anything to hinder that or to reduce that it would have a detrimental impact, it wouldn’t be the same experience. I don’t think that would be fair to fans, to sell the same game but with different levels of experience. Even the seamless nature of the series and the scale of the game right, we couldn’t do that. We never load Paris. It wouldn’t be possible, in our minds we’d be cheating fans by providing a lesser version of the same game.”
As for Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, the same logic can’t be applied. Wii U not getting that game ultimately comes back to the point of Ubisoft being concerned about low sales.
Bandai Namco worked with several companies to make Super Smash Bros. for 3DS possible. Along with developer partners, supervisors were also brought in to ensure that their original games were properly represented.

Fire Emblem’s Tharja was set to appear in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS as a collectible trophy. However, it’s rumored (repeat: rumor!) that she was ultimately cut, as her clothing was a bit too revealing and would have forced the game into a higher age rating bracket – something Nintendo wanted to avoid.
Tharja was included in a large batch of leaked Smash Bros. 3DS photos – supposedly from the ESRB – back in August. Now that the game is out worldwide, it’s clear that she isn’t in any version (North America, Europe, Japan).
Check out the gallery above for a few photos of the removed Tharja trophy.
Secret Tunnel Entertainment has shared new details about Shapes of Gray. Primarily, we have information regarding the game’s Arcade Mode, which is showcased in the clip above.
Here’s the latest:
– Out on Wii U early next year
– Off-TV play supported
– New modes including Arcade Mode
– This has players trying to earn as high of a score as possible
– Do so by playing as quickly as possible
– At the end of each level, your remaining time will be squared, multiplied by one multiplier which reflects how many levels you’ve played without taking a hit and another which reflects your current health (x100 for 3 hearts, x50 for 2 hearts, x25 for 1 heart), and then added to your score
– No checkpoints or boss battles in Arcade Mode
– Play with the dual analog controls on the GamePad as opposed to mouse and keyboard
– The control scheme allows levels to be cleared faster
The latest issue of Shonen Sunday magazine has revealed a new collaboration with Shinobu Ohtaka’s Magi manga and anime adaptation. Players will be able to equip themselves with Aladdin’s staff in addition to Alibaba’s sword Amon (available as a broad sword). Capcom will also be including collaboration quests that provide the title of “Magic” and a Magi-themed guild card.
