Amiibo

IGN has posted yet another English video for Fire Emblem Fates. This time around, we get a look at the game’s amiibo functionality. Take a look at the video below.

Update: This is already available at Best Buy. It does have an “Only at Best Buy” tag though, so I suppose it won’t be an exclusive any longer come next month!

Next month, a new amiibo travel case will be sold by HORI. Amazon lists a January 21 release date.

HORI’s case features retro Mario mystery block artwork, plus clear windows to display your amiibo collection. The officially-licensed product stores up to eight figures.

The UK Shovel Knight amiibo delay is well-known at this point. Thankfully, it won’t be much longer until the figure is officially available in the country. Yacht Club Games confirmed on Twitter moments ago that Shovel Knight is now slated for January 8.

A Target representative has posted estimated stock numbers for Lucas. When the figure ships next month, stores should have an average of 20-32 units on hand. His total shipped quantity is actually double that of Classic Mario, so he shouldn’t be too tough to find.

The Lucas amiibo just launched in Japan last week. Check out an unboxing video for the figure below.

Update (12/20): Bumped to the top. Two more amiibo deals for you! Tom Nook is $9, and Mabel is $10.

Amazon is selling five amiibo or $10 each. Along with Zero Suit Samus which we mentioned a couple of days ago, you can also grab Ganondorf, Inkling Boy, Inkling Girl, and Zelda for the same price.

And if that wasn’t enough, there are a couple of amiibo deals running on Walmart as well. The Modern Mario amiibo and Classic version are $10 each. When purchased together, you can grab them for just $15 (scroll down towards the bottom on either page).

The packaging images for Roy and Ryu’s amiibo are now available. Take a look at them above.

Best Buy has opened up pre-orders for the Shovel Knight amiibo. You can reserve the figure by putting in an order here. The Shovel Knight amiibo is due out on January 8.

The Shovel Knight amiibo is being sold in almost every European territory, but it’s been facing delays in the UK. Most recently, we heard that the likes of Nintendo UK and GAME hoped to ship the figure this week. It now seems that Shovel Knight won’t be available until January.

GAME UK sent out the notice above today, claiming that the new release date is January 8. Amazon UK also has it pinned down for the same day. Hopefully this will be Shovel Knight’s final delay in the region!

Nintendo sees potential in amiibo. So says president Tatsumi Kimishima, who told Japanese outlet Sankei the following:

“There is still potential in amiibo. We want to make ‘the expansion of function to play with the game as a single entity’ one of the big pillars.”

Kimishima echoed something similar in an interview with TIME earlier this month. He said that Nintendo hasn’t yet established amiibo “as an enhancement for all of our software at this point.” Rather than using them in games, amiibo have instead been used “more as a collection item”.
