Burnout Paradise Remastered

Burnout Paradise Remastered was previously thought to be releasing for Switch on June 19 after it was listed on the eShop. EA has made the news official today.

Burnout Paradise Remastered is a redone version of the 2008 game. It’ll run at 60 frames per second on Switch, and has a bunch of DLC included.

Here’s the official overview from EA:

Unravel Two is currently available on Switch via the eShop. The same can’t be said of the series’ first entry, but perhaps that could be changing soon.

Over in Brazil, Unravel 1 was recently rated for Switch. The classification was just added to the official database on April 17. The only slightly confusing part of the rating is that PS4, Xbox One, and PC are also included from this same day despite being available on all three platforms since 2016.

Here’s an overview of Unravel, along with a trailer:

Update (4/18): The eShop has removed the June 19 release date for Burnout Paradise Remastered. However, it’s unclear if the information was inaccurate or was shared early. We’ll pass along any other information that comes to light.

Original (4/16): Burnout Paradise Remastered may have a final release date on Switch. The game’s eShop page has updated in North America, showing that it’ll apparently be available on June 19. We’ll need to wait for EA to confirm, but it definitely sounds realistic.

EA has continued to show interest in Switch, though still remains non-committal to the platform. Speaking during a financial results call today, COO Blake Jorgensen said the company is “very pleased” with Switch’s performance up to this point. However, Jorgensen pointed out that third-parties need to stack up against Nintendo’s own games, which have been the top-sellers “by a long shot”.

FIFA 20 will be coming to Switch next month, but when it does, it’ll be released as a Legacy Edition. That means rather than more of a new experience that makes significant improvements and additions, it’ll be largely based on last year’s version.

EA has now published a lengthy FAQ detailing what fans can expect from FIFA 20 Legacy Edition on Switch. Find the full rundown below.

EA says it is “absolutely looking at more Switch games in our portfolio”. That’s according to chief studios officer Laura Miele, who spoke about plans for the system in the latest issue of Game Informer.

When asked about Switch and whether the company is reconsidering its investment there, Miele said:

Switch continues to sell, but as far as EA support goes, we haven’t seen a whole lot. So far, the FIFA series has ended up along on the platform along with Fe from Zoink and a port of Unravel Two. During a financial call this week, EA commented on its thinking behind Switch support.

According to CEO Andrew Wilson, EA’s internal data indicates “a great many Switch owners also own a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One or a PC and very often choose to play the games that we make on those platforms even though they have a Switch and they enjoy a lot of great content on the Switch.”
