The wait for Treasurenauts continues. Renegade Kid co-founder gave a release date update on Twitter a couple of weeks ago, confirming that the 3DS eShop game is scheduled for a Q4 launch.


Treasurenauts was originally announced last February. Renegade Kid hoped to finish its game by the end of 2013, but it was moved to Q1 2014.

TreeFall Studios’ first-person horror adventure “The Letter” appears to be coming to the North American Wii U eShop next week. The digital store has the game listed for a July 10 launch. Pricing is set at $1.99.

Yacht Club Games is open to the idea of cross-buy for Shovel Knight. Just don’t expect it anytime soon, as it’s something the studio would have to consider it first.

Cross-buy is a much-welcomed feature on Nintendo platforms, but it has a long ways to go. It’s only available in Europe at present (with one game thus far), and the functionality seems to be limited to buying the 3DS version first and then picking up the Wii U edition for free.

Shovel Knight designer/director Sean Velasco and pixel artist Nick Wozniak recently spoke with Hardcore Gamer and gave some lengthy insight into what the studio has planned next for the game. Additionally, Yacht Club discussed the possibility of sequels – again touching on ideas like a 16 bit version or N64-styled game with 3D visuals – as well as interest in pursuing original titles as well.

Being a developer that works with Nintendo has, in the past, been considered something of a novelty for independent companies. Before WiiWare existed on Wii there wasn’t much of a way to get your game published on a Nintendo platform without a “proper” publisher, and even with Nintendo’s digital offerings on Wii and DSi things remained relatively closed off.

Now, with Wii U and 3DS, game development is open and independent developers have brought out masses of titles to the two platforms. But what’s it like to work with Nintendo? Is there any hint of their shielded past nowadays, or have things loosened up so much that such a past is indistinguishable?

“Willing to help” seems to be the common theme across all three of our entries in this week’s ‘Developer Musings’ series. Of course, there does seem to be some of that traditional red tape still involved– head past the break for comments from Dakko Dakko (Scram Kitty), Ludosity (Ittle Dew), and Nyamyam (Tengami).

Internal Invasion will be launching this Thursday in North America. For those curious, the game requires 72.8MB of space to download. When actually installed on Wii U, the space required dips to 48MB.

4 Corner Games has shared a bunch of new information regarding “I’ve Got to Run!”. We have news pertaining to additional DLC, patch, the European release, and a newly revealed 3DS version. Developer 4 Corner Games has also announced a new project “MMM”.

Here’s the full rundown:

Final two DLC modes announced

  • Endless Flip has you running right to left – incredibly hard!
  • Endless Flight gives you a ton of jumps, but obstacles fly at you. Dodge the obstacles, strategize about when to touch down on the moving platforms.

Patch info:

  • Reconfirmed support for the Wii U Pro Controller
  • Totally new menu system (no supporting assets yet, they’re on the way as I make progress)
  • Autosaving (Highly requested by players – still implementing it, but it’s going to be in the patch)

European launch:

  • Still in the works
  • Will be version 1.1 at launch

I’ve Got to Run: Complete Edition!

  • Coming to PC, Mac, and Linux platforms first, followed by a release on Nintendo 3DS and another platform (that I can’t announce yet)
  • The Nintendo 3DS version will contain an exclusive mode, as will the unannounced version (not the same mode).
