Super Smash Bros. for Wii U screenshots (5/21/14)

Colours, colours everywhere! Sakurai gets into the nitty gritty of mirroring character models today:
The leg and arm positions of some characters will automatically be mirrored when facing left or right. Mario, for example, will have his chest shown in the foreground regardless of whether he’s facing right or left. This was quite a tedious task, but thanks to it we can show the best features of each character even better.
He also provides an example of how it was before this change:
[Weekly Screenshot] Art of Balance Wii U #6 – Shin’en’s First Time Online
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Screenshots, Weekly Screenshot, Wii U eShop | 6 Comments
Keeping things light this week, Shin’en’s Manfred Linzer returns to NintendoEverything with a nice summary of the game’s lobby system and how implementing online for Art of Balance on Wii U was tough because it was the team’s first time ever doing an online game. Aside from what he told us, we can glean that the game will keep track of your win/lose record, as well as display your country of origin when matchmaking. The rest remains mysterious… for now.
Read on past the break for Manfred’s own words about what you see above, and the development of the game’s online mode:

HullBreach Studios, Cthulhi Games working to bring back Sadness as Wii U exclusive
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii, Wii U eShop | 8 Comments
“Sadness” is a game that should sound familiar to many Nintendo fans. Nibris announced the project as a Wii exclusive way back in 2006 before ultimately pulling the plug in 2010, which was accompanied by news of the studio’s closure.
In a bit of odd and unexpected news, HullBreach Studios and Cthulhi Games have announced plans to revive Sadness as a Wii U exclusive. The title is tentatively targeted for a 2016 release.
Here’s what you should know:
– Nibris struggled with development with their Gamebryo engine programmers at Frontline and their graphics partner Digital Amigos
– Will stick to the game’s original idea
– Could be some changes and there with regard to characters, mechanics, setting
– Will keep the Gothic noir visual style with a few exceptions
– Will likely be made in Unity
– Starting from scratch
– New elements will be introduced including RPG and puzzle-based mechanics
– There’s also a shift to 2D
– Cthulhi and HullBreach are working as equal partners on the project
– More news at “Indie Sanctum 2014” in October

The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is officially no more.
All services were terminated just a few minutes ago, meaning it’s no longer possible to play the various Wii and DS titles that took advantage of the functionality (at least through traditional means). DLC offered through the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is now unavailable as well.
It was nice while it lasted!
