Nintendo has been hit with a classic action lawsuit regarding “immoral” microtransactions in Mario Kart Tour.
The suit, which comes from a young gamer backed by his father, demands that refunds be given for all minors in the United States who paid to use Spotlight Pipes. These provided in-game rewards using undisclosed odds. By using the pipes, players could receive helpful upgrades.

Nintendo Switch Sports dev on the game’s UI and UI design, making the controls easy to understand, more

Nintendo Switch Sports developer Toshiki Otani recently posted an interesting blog about what it was like handling the UI and UX elements of the game. We also have a look at what seems to be different boxart (above) and logo designs (below) that were considered.
UI and UX elements are often overlooked when it comes to creating titles, and it’s especially important for Switch Sports given how it’s intended for people of all ages. Otani brought up aspects such as making the controls immediately easy to understand, cutting down on explanations, and more.

Baten Kaitos director again comments on cancelled Baten Kaitos III

Yasuyuki Honne, the director at Monolith Soft for the Baten Kaitos series, has again commented on Baten Kaitos III – which never released. He also once again confirmed that there were plans for a title on DS that was scrapped as well.
According to Honne, Baten Kaitos III was targeted for next-gen platforms – so if anything, it would have been on Wii and not GameCube. Unfortunately, things weren’t meant to be “due to Bandai Namco’s restructuring and budget review, as well as tri-Crescendo’s financial struggles”. Honne added that “Baten Kaitos is a complicated series with lots of circumstances involved.”

Nintendo was thinking about porting Smash Bros. Melee to Wii before Brawl happened
Posted on 1 year ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii | 0 comments
Had things gone in a different direction and Super Smash Bros. Brawl never came to be, Super Smash Bros. Melee could have been ported to Wii instead.
It’s well documented at this point that series director Masahiro Sakurai didn’t initially know that Nintendo planned to make a Smash Bros. game for that console. The news was shared during a pre-E3 press conference in 2005, and president Satoru Iwata announced to the world that a new entry would be released for its upcoming system with online play. Iwata and Sakurai met shortly after, and Sakurai ended up agreeing to make a Smash Bros. game for Wii. But something else Nintendo was considering was a straight port of Melee – we could have seen this if Sakurai “turned the work down”.
