[Review] The Next Penelope
Posted on 7 years ago by Jakob Vujovic(@jakovujo) in Reviews, Switch eShop | 1 Comment
System: Switch (eShop)
Release date: December 21, 2017
Developer: Aurélien Regard / Seaven Studio
Publisher: Plug In Digital
Set in a far-future interpretation of one of the oldest pieces of western literature, The Next Penelope has an engaging aesthetic wrapper for its gameplay mixture of top-down shooter and Micro Machines style racing. As novel as space Poseidon might be, these narrative elements are also its flimsiest facet. The snippets of dialogue that are peppered throughout the game’s five main major challenges fumble with some inelegant wording, odd grammar, and a few comma splices. The premise isn’t given the space to develop into much beyond passing references to the Odyssey. Fortunately, this is all just window dressing – the game’s hectic arcade-style shooting fares much better in blending somewhat dissonant gameplay concepts. It comes together as an impressively well constructed genre hybrid.

Latest Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle update includes support for video capture
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 5 Comments
Ubisoft updated Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle about a week ago. Without question, the big highlight is the inclusion of the brand new Versus Mode.
The update also does at least one more thing that we’ve now become aware of and not really brought up elsewhere. Video capture is supported, so you can use Switch’s built in function to record videos up to thirty seconds long. Give it a shot if you come across something you’d like to save and share.

As you would expect, Nintendo isn’t ready to delve into any specific plans just yet. However, Breath of the Wild director Hidemaro Fujibayashi and series producer Eiji Aonuma did talk about their mindset going forward.

Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch eShop | 2 Comments
Mini Metro is in development for Switch, Radial Games and Dinosaur Polo Club have announced. The puzzle strategy game will be released on Nintendo’s console in early 2018.
Mini Metro may look simple, but there’s much more to the game than you’d expect. It’s all about “designing the subway layout for a rapidly expanding city.” Mini Metro has received a ton of praise since its original debut in 2015.
We have a bunch of additional information and a trailer for Mini Metro below.
