The very first thing we ever saw from Super Mario Odyssey was New Donk City. And it’s no ordinary city: Mario is running and jumping around with realistic people around him.

The concept of New Donk City may seem strange for a Mario title, but there was a purpose behind it. Director Kenta Motokura explained to Game Informer this month why it made sense for players to be interacting with a more realistic city.

In a month from now, two new Pokemon games will be on 3DS. Of course, we’re referring to Pokemon Ultra Sun and Pokemon Ultra Moon.

From the minute these titles were announced, they underwent quite a bit of scrutiny. Fans were hoping that new Pokemon games would be announced for Switch, but instead, they were revealed for 3DS. Making matters somewhat worse is that they’re new versions of last year’s Sun/Moon. It took some time to really understand what makes Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon different from the 2016 games. It really wasn’t until the past couple of months – these last few weeks in particular – that some of the new elements have been highlighted.

So how many of you have interest in Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon (or not at all)? Have you moved on from 3DS to Switch at this point? Or do you intend to fire up the handheld next month for the new games? Let us know in the comments below.

Leading up to the launch of Fire Emblem Warriors, Nintendo Dream published monthly interviews with the development team. In its most recent issue, the Japanese magazine had its biggest discussion yet. Producer Yosuke Hayashi and director Hiroya Usuda were brought back once again in addition to artist Yuta Matsunaga to talk about Fire Emblem Warriors, with the two being interviewed a few weeks before release (and just prior to the Tokyo Game Show).

Hayashi and Usuda had a ton to say about all aspects of Fire Emblem Warriors. There was more talk about certain characters in the game and the handling of their reveals (including why Azura wasn’t on the initial roster), some of the troubles encountered with designs, approach to the story (light spoilers here), gameplay systems, and different modes.

Switch’s firmware update last night was notable for several reasons. It added features like video capture and the ability to transfer data, but it also included support for eShop pre-loads – like what has been on Wii U and 3DS.

In Japan, the very first pre-load option has gone live. By accessing the eShop, it’s possible to purchase Snipperclips Plus ahead of time. Doing so allows you to download most of the necessary data, with only a small update needed to begin playing at launch.

Snipperclips Plus takes up 1.1GB in case you’re curious.

We’re still about a day out from Fire Emblem Warriors’ launch in North America and Europe, but the game is already live on the Australian eShop. Players can purchase and download the title and put their money down for the season pass.

eShop listings for the DLC reveal previously-unknown information about what’s to come for Fire Emblem Warriors. Specifically, we now know about each of the new playable characters Koei Tecmo will be adding to the game. A total of nine characters are coming across the three different DLC packs, including Azura, Tharja, and more.

Here’s the full rundown of each DLC pack:

With yesterday’s Switch firmware update, Nintendo finally introduced the ability to capture video. There are a couple of caveats, however. You can only use the feature with a few select Nintendo games, and you’re limited to just 30 seconds of gameplay.

Kotaku UK spoke with two sources who say that Nintendo has more in mind for video recording on Switch. The company’s first goal is to have all first-party games supporting the functionality, as well as titles tied to Nintendo properties. In other words, titles like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Fire Emblem Warriors are the priority at the moment.
