Original (7/10): Last month, Nintendo and HORI revealed a special Splatoon 2-themed headset for Switch. We now know that it’s coming west thanks to a listing on Amazon.

The Switch Splatoon 2 Splat & Chat Headset is based on an in-game item. By using it, you can experience in-game sound and voice chat at the same time while playing online. It has a removable mic and interchangeable decorative plates.

Pre-orders are open on Amazon here. The headset releases on July 21, just in time for Splatoon 2.

ARMS has received a new update, and it’s a big update. All players should now be able to download version 2.0.0.

As previously mentioned, Max Brass is added in as a new playable character. This includes his ARMS and a new stage as well. Other new features include the Hedlok Scramble mode, Stats, Events, balance updates, fixes, and more.

The full list of patch notes (they’re quite lengthy) are posted below.

A Niconico app was previously teased for Switch. Today, it’s been officially announced, and it’s launching in Japan very soon. Using it will allow Switch owners to watch online videos from the service.

Niconico is coming to Switch on July 13 in Japan. View a promo video for its release below.

Niconico will be the first media app for Switch. Worth noting, the system is region free, so you can download it from the eShop with a Japanese Nintendo account. The app will be distributed at no extra cost.

This week’s ARMS update is going to be pretty extensive. In addition to adding Max Brass, his ARMS, and a new stage, a new versus mode is also incoming.

Producer Kosuke Yabuki spoke about the new mode with Eurogamer:

“I can talk about it a little bit now – Max Brass is the main part of tomorrow’s update, but there is a new versus mode where in a fight between two or three players there’s a Hedlok mask players battle over, and when you get the mask your own character can turn into Hedlok. If one player turns into Hedlok it’ll be up to the other players to take him down. The Hedlok mode won’t just be available in one v one versus modes – it’ll be available online and in every multiplayer mode.”

French website Jeuxvideo was recently able to speak with ARMS producer Kosuke Yabuki. Plenty of topics were brought up, including the original prototype and how the team approached development, the most popular characters / modes, update plans (including an interesting tease coming with Max Brass’ patch), interest in a sequel, and more.

We’ve rounded up some of the more notable excerpts below. Note that the responses were automatically translated with Google, so some of the comments are a bit rough in spots. However, it’s mostly understandable on the whole.
