First draft of the Pixels movie script didn’t have Donkey Kong
Posted 8 years ago by Brian in General Nintendo, News | 7 Comments
Donkey Kong wasn’t always a shoe-in for the new movie Pixels. In an interview with Wired, director Chris Columbus stated that the character wasn’t included in the first draft of the script.
It was only after several months of meetings with Nintendo that the company signed off on having Donkey Kong featured in Pixels. Nintendo eventually felt that the film team would “treat Donkey Kong with respect and the proper gameplay”.
Columbus said:
“I was excited because the script had a Centipede sequence and a Pac-Man sequence, but what the first draft of the script did not have was Donkey Kong. After months and months of meeting with the board of Nintendo they agreed that we were going to treat Donkey Kong with respect and the proper gameplay, which was very important, and bringing Donkey Kong into the film was a slam-dunk for us.”

Super Mario Maker artbook will be available as a PDF to those who buy the game digitally
Posted 8 years ago by Brian in News, Wii U | 6 Comments
These days, Nintendo games are sold both physically and digitally. So it makes sense then that Super Mario Maker will be made available on the eShop when it arrives in September.
You may recall that Nintendo previously said that all copies of the game will come with a hardcover art book. Thankfully, those who pick up Super Mario Maker digitally won’t be missing out on it entirely. Nintendo confirmed in its announcement of the game’s European Wii U bundle today that those who purchase Super Mario Maker on the eShop will be provided with a PDF of the artbook.
Keep in mind that if you’d like a physical copy of the book, it can only be obtained by purchasing the Wii U bundle, Limited Edition Pack, or Standard Edition Pack. These three options are all coming to Europe. At this time, Nintendo is only selling one physical version of Super Mario Maker, and each copy will come with the artbook.
