Update (8/2): The new Pokemon GO update is now officially live.

Original (7/29): Niantic is rolling out another update for Pokemon GO. Players should soon find that version 1.39.1 is available for iOS, and version 0.69.1 for Android.

The latest update mainly addresses a few bugs and issues. It also brings back Spark to appraise Pokemon for Team Instinct Trainers. Players recently noticed that Spark went missing and have been wondering when he would return.

The full Pokemon GO patch notes are as follows:

  • Spark has returned to appraise Pokémon for Team Instinct Trainers.
  • Resolved a motivation decay bug impacting Pokémon with less than 3000 CP.
  • Resolved a bug causing Pokémon GO to freeze after consuming potions too quickly.

One of the more interesting areas in Super Mario Odyssey is New Donk City. Mario finds himself in a location he has never visited previously in one of his platformer outings, that being a realistic city with humans.

Today’s Japanese Twitter update for Super Mario Odyssey confirms a neat little nugget about New Donk City. The citizens here are known as “New Donkers”, interestingly enough. This was suggested in Super Mario Odyssey’s in-game map brochure, but Nintendo officially confirms the term.

With New Donk City being a reference to New York City, that does make sense. New York City residents are often called New Yorkers after all.

Capcom released a new “Hunter Life” trailer for the upcoming Switch version of Monster Hunter XX. View today’s video below.

Virtuos has worked on all sorts of ports and remasters in the past. Their previous projects include Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy X/X-2, HD, Batman: Return to Arkham, Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, and plenty more.

Now the studio is turning its attention to Switch. As spotted by Doctre81, senior programmer Xiaoyu Zhang states on LinkedIn that he’s involved with the porting process of a AAA title.

Here’s the relevant excerpt:

WIP: Porting a AAA title to Nintendo Switch
– Re-implement the renderer with Nintendo’s native graphics API(nvn)
– Design and implement the low level mechanism of graphics resource management and threading
– Exploit the performance advantages of the Vulkan-like API (UMA, explicit management of graphics memory, complete control over CPU/GPU synchronization, etc)

Zhang has been working at Virtuous since last March. It’s unclear how long the Switch project has been in development for, however.

Retro City Rampage DX makes its way to the Switch eShop tomorrow. Ahead of the launch, you can watch 20 minutes of footage below.

The latest episode of Capcom TV was hosted earlier today. The Great Ace Attorney 2, along with the Switch verson of Monster Hunter XX, were shown with gameplay. Watch the full recording below.

The situation with Telltale releases on Switch is a bit of a mystery. Various retailers have listed Guardians of the Galaxy on Nintendo’s console over the past few months, for example. Batman: The Telltale Series has also popped up on store listings.

So when Batman reappeared at select retailers earlier this week, we didn’t think there was much to those listings. But perhaps there is something going on here after all.

GameFly just added in an entry for Batman: The Telltale Series on Switch today. It contains an October 31 release date, though that’s no doubt temporary. The interesting thing to consider here is that GameFly has a very good track record. We can’t say that GameFly is an absolute confirmation, but it’s a good sign about Telltale possibly bringing its Batman series to Switch.

NBA 2K18 has been delayed on Switch… sort of.

The main launch of the sports title is taking place on September 19. While NBA 2K18 will still be coming to Switch on that day digitally, the physical version will not. NBA 2K18 will hit store shelves on Nintendo’s console sometime this fall.

2K and parent company Take-Two Interactive have not provided a reason for the delay.

Quest of Dungeons is making the jump to Switch after previously being made for Wii U and 3DS. It won’t be just a straight port, however. Upfull Studios is including new content.

On Switch, Quest of Dungeons will feature a new Mansion with “a couple more different themes and sprites.” The developer is also packing in a new Feats system to track Achievements. Other optimizations, tweaks, and changes are in as well.

Quest of Dungeons will be out on the Japanese Switch eShop next week, and in the west soon. Pricing will be set at $8.99.
