A sale was set to go live on the Japanese 3DS eShop on New Year’s Day. Unfortunately, the lengthy downtime affecting Nintendo’s online services prevented this from happening.

While it isn’t New Year’s any longer, Nintendo has now rescheduled the same sale. It’ll take place between January 11 and January 13.

Project CARS has the potential to “showcase the hidden power that the Wii U has.” So says Slightly Mad Studios creative director Andy Tudor, who was speaking with GamingBolt in a new interview.

When asked if the Wii U’s lower specs would undermine the game’s visuals, Tudor said:

“No, if anything I think it’ll showcase the hidden power that the Wii U has. There’s no equivalent of Project CARS on Wii U, yet we hear the shouts from Nintendo fans loud and clear that they can’t wait to get their hands on this kind of experience so we hope to make them proud with the quality of the visuals.

“Sure there are maybe more stringent technical constraints but the same core experience will remain, plus additional features that take advantage of the controller’s unique second screen and touch interface.”

Project CARS is currently scheduled for launch later this year.

Pokemon Bank is still out of action in Japan (and still has yet to launch in other territories) following the unexpected downtime that plagued Nintendo’s online services last week. Today, a brief update was shared.

Nintendo says that it continues to resolve and test issues relating to Pokemon Bank. Details will be announced as soon as possible.

Nintendo also apologized to fans who are waiting for Pokemon Bank, and asks for their patience.

If you happen to have a 3DS with v4.5 firmware or older, you might just be able to avoid the system’s region lock. Some folks over at GBAtemp have created a workaround that allows for games in different regions to be successfully booted.

All you need is a DS or 3DS flashcard, which runs a special patched launcher file. The code modifies your system to load cartridges from other regions. Once completed, more recent firmware can be installed to play imported games that require it.

Keep in mind that this method is not at related to piracy. Users can only play retail games – not ROMs – that have been purchased legally.

You can find more information about the workaround here.

Zelda’s strong side attack. It’s a slash attack that utilizes her magic to make even a simple slash look sharp.
