SEGA has dropped plenty of not-so-subtle hints that a new Sonic game is in the works. As if any other confirmation was needed, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka told Famitsu this week outright that “a completely new game” is happening. That’s in addition to a new movie from Sony and the ongoing Sonic Boom show.

Iizuka’s words in full:

We at Sonic Team – are developing a completely new game, as well as developing a full movie, actively done by Sony Pictures, and animation on Sonic Boom. We are also ready to improve sponsor ties. The most important thing is not the fact the series survived for 25 years, but how many games was developed. Our goal – add something new and overcome any potential hardships.

Many are anticipating that the new Sonic game will be unveiled during a 25th anniversary party on July 22.

Starting on October 1, CD Media SE will be Nintendo’s new local regional distribution representative for Greece and the Balkan region. Prior to this, Nortec Multimedia SA had assumed the role, but that came to an end last year.

Here are a couple of comments from both Nintendo and CD Media about the new partnership:

Satoru Shibata, President of Nintendo of Europe, said, “We are very happy to begin our co-operation with CD Media, and we would like to thank all Nintendo fans in Greece and surrounding territories for their continued support in our franchises. We believe CD Media has a very strong team and service infrastructure in the region to deliver our content.”

Spiros Jamas, President of CD Media, said, “We are absolutely delighted and honoured to have been selected by Nintendo of Europe as their regional distribution partner. This is a pivotal moment in our development as the leading distributor of digital entertainment in the region. We are committed to provide Nintendo fans and consumers in general in the region with exemplary service and support.”

Thanks to the various folks who sent this in.

The latest episode of Nintendo’s Japanese show Nyannyan Neko Mario Time has now gone live. We’ve included it below.

At E3 last week, Game Informer chatted with Shigeru Miyamoto and Nintendo’s Bill Trinen about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Miyamoto touched on the gameplay, why he’s conflicted about hunting, and why these games are so hard to create. The full interview is below.

Story of Seasons is known for its strong ties to handhelds. In the future though, perhaps it could migrate to consoles. Producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto is aware of interest in North America in having it happen, and if fans continue to express interest, the developers may “start being more concerned about that.”

Hashimoto said in a recent interview:

So first of all, we get more of the North American fans’ voices that they want this game to go to this console. If we get a lot more feedback like that, maybe we will start being more concerned about that. We choose the platform depending on the number of users on that console. We have younger generations of fans like kids playing Story of Seasons. Kids like to have a handheld system, so we tend to focus on that userbase.

The latest game in the series, Story of Seasons: Trio of Towns hits the 3DS next year.
