Renegade Kid “exploring all possibilities, including sequels and ports” for Dementium
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in DS, General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Yesterday, Renegade Kid confirmed that the studio is now in possession of the Dementium IP. That means the company is free to do anything and everything with the franchise.
Renegade Kid co-founder Jools Watsham has since issued a statement about the situation to Eurogamer, and told the site, “We will be exploring all possibilities, including sequels and ports, and we’re open to the idea of working with a publishing partner or going solo.”
The full comment reads:
“We’re very excited about having Dementium return home. We will be exploring all possibilities, including sequels and ports, and we’re open to the idea of working with a publishing partner or going solo. We haven’t ruled it out, but we do not currently plan to do a Dementium kickstarter campaign. It is pretty great to have these options with a brand that both our loyal fear-loving fans and us love so dearly, and so dreadfully. The team is really looking forward to lose their minds again in the blood-soaked corridors of Dementium.”

Mario Takes America was a cancelled CD-i game
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 3 Comments
Have you ever heard of a project called Mario Takes America? Probably not, as it ended up as a cancelled title for the CD-i.
Mario Takes America would have been an action-platformer from Cigam Entertainment. Nintendo’s famous plumber would have traveled across the country, and players would find themselves in levels based on real life locations like New York.
Mario Takes America was in development between 1992 and 1994, but was cancelled due to the ambitious nature of the project and failure of the CD-i. Unseen 64 has plenty of additional information here.

Nintendo, Ambrella, The Pokemon Company file patent for Pokemon handheld device
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 3 Comments
In March, Nintendo filed a US patent along with Ambrella and The Pokemon Company for “Information Processing Apparatus, Information Processing System, Information Processing Method and Recording Medium”. The filing was only just made public today.
That application title may sound confusing, but it’s ultimately for a handheld device incorporating NFC/RFID figures and IC cards (smart cards). As you would expect, the device focuses on Pokemon and gaming.
How exactly this patent will be used is currently unknown. For all we know, it could just be a filing that will never be used. Only time will tell…
