Call of Duty: Ghosts supports dedicated servers on all platforms
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Podcast Stories, Wii U | 0 comments
Dedicated server support for Call of Duty: Ghosts isn’t just limited to the Xbox One, which had been confirmed previously. It sounds like all other platforms are being included in the mix – including Wii U… maybe.
Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin confirmed on Twitter that dedicated servers “will be used on current gen, next gen and PC”. He wrote:
GHOSTS ONLINE CONNECTIVITY UPDATE: I wanted to give a quick update on some of the work that has been done to improve everyone’s online experience. We’ve already mentioned dedicated servers as part of the overall plan to improve connectivity. Dedicated servers will be used on current gen, next gen and PC with Ghosts. And, in order to make sure that people have the best possible experience regardless of platform, location or connection, Ghosts will be using a hybrid system of dedicated servers and listen servers. So no matter where you are the game will always be trying to give you the best online performance possible. There is also some great new tech in the matchmaking system that will place players in matches that have the best combined overall connectivity performance. Again these are just some of the things that are going into Call of Duty: Ghosts to give players a great online experience. Can’t wait to see you all online.
So I’m assuming Wii U is included here. But honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t…

Legend of the Lancer Kickstarter coming, will have Wii U stretch goal
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Gorilla Press Games will soon be launching a Kickstarter for “Legend of the Lancer”. The Metroidvania-inspired game, initially planned for Windows, Mac, and Linux, will contain a Wii U stretch goal.
What’s Legend of the Lancer all about? IndieGames secured the following details from developer Paul Emanuel:
– Explore towns in the world of Umber
– Play as protagonist Sam Drexel
– Main goal is to enter a Master Jousting Tournament
– Compete in qualifiers in each town to work your way up the Jousting ladder to enter the Legendary Tournament
– Visit towns, complete quests, search for items
– The town leader will then allow Sam’s entry into the town’s qualifying tournament
– Can do this all in a non-linear fashion
– Every town has its own Legendary Boss that haunts, guards, or controls that area
– Bosses give randomly-generated spoils/drops when defeated
– Only have to complete 3 towns to enter the main tournament
– Multiple boss defeats and more paths taken will result in different outcomes
– Scroll around the map to select towns to visit
– Map changes based on the result of the ending level
– “If you defeat the Beast that guards the tower, then it will fall. If you defeat the Necromancer in the graveyard, then it will be covered in flowers and beauty.”
– HUD has a portrait of Sam as well as health and stamina bars
– Attachment icon can be seen on the bottom left of the screen
– Sam can use a magic Hilt that can be customized with different attachments
– Find the hilt attached with the basic lance inside the skull of a dragon
– Will come across more attachments including a hammer, grappling hook, and rocket lance attachment
– Cycle through attachments on the fly
– For instance, a player might slam the hammer to stun the opponent, knock him into the air with the basic lance, then shoot him with the rocket lance. The player can have up to 4 attachments attached in the Inventory menu at one time to cycle through.”
– Can summon a horse
– Horse is “useful to clear areas blocked by boulders, fight certain mid-bosses or bosses, and to help reach certain platforms. The horse will also be able to have armor and attachments that can be upgraded separately from Sam. When Sam jumps on the horse itself it will transform into a Biped horse. We drew this inspiration from Mega Man X.”
The Legend of the Lancer Kickstarter will begin on October 11.
Moffitt – “strong relationships with third-parties”, wants Wii U to be the system “that every developer wants to publish on”, more great games next year
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 0 comments
Nearly a year after its launch, Nintendo is still being questioned about third-party support for Wii U.
After all, the company is missing out on key releases – EA confirmed earlier this year that it isn’t coming out with any titles for the system for the time being.
Nintendo doesn’t sound too worried about the third-party situation. Scott Moffitt, executive vice president of sales and marketing, pointed to support from Ubisoft, Disney, SEGA, and Warner Bros. as publishers supporting Wii U while speaking with Forbes. At the same time, he acknowledged that Nintendo must “continue to build the installed base to demonstrate that making games for Wii U is a good investment.”

Mario/Luigi Wiimote pre-orders open, plus Tales of the Abyss discount
Posted on 11 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii, Wii U | 6 Comments
During last week’s Nintendo Direct, a pair of special Wii Remote Plus products were announced. Mario and Luigi will both receiving specially-designed controllers next month.
Pre-orders for both Wiimotes are now open. You can reserve the Mario version here or Luigi version here.
In other news, I came across a discount for Tales of the Abyss while browsing on Amazon today. The 3DS RPG is currently 50% off. It’s actually one of my personal favorite titles on the system, so I’d recommend it. It’s not for everyone, though!
