Information about the new Castlevania animated series on Netflix is starting to trickle in following the news that surfaced yesterday.

Castlevania Season 1, Part 1 will debut at some point this year. A second season is lined up for 2018. Each episode will run for roughly 30 minutes.

Netflix’s description of the series says it follows “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.” Producer Adi Shankar also confirmed to IGN that the show is an adaptation of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse.

Shankar also had this to say:

“This is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones. (Producer and writer) Warren Ellis added so much depth to the material. [The series is] going to be R-rated as f***. … this is going to be the best f*****g video game adaptation we’ve had to date.”

Nicalis has already announced and hinted at a few games for Switch such as The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+. According to the company’s Tyrone Rodriguez, the team is also preparing “way more” titles for Nintendo’s new system.

Rodriguez told Polygon that Nicalis was able to gain access to Switch “a little bit early” having also received dev kits for the likes of Wii U and 3DS. Development has also been incredibly smooth, and it’s been “light years ahead of what we were doing with Wii U.”

As Rodriguez said:

Project CARS was a disappointment to all who expected it to be a Wii U game, but fared really well and was critically acclaimed. Slightly Mad Studios had to cancel the port of that first game due to the Nintendo platform not being able to perform to their standards.

Now, the creative director of the recently revealed Project CARS 2, Andy Tudor, has talked with Red Bull about Switch. He confirmed that they currently have no projects for the new Nintendo console and that Project CARS 2 probably won’t make it to Switch.

Check out the excerpt of the Red Bull interview in which Tudor talks about what happened with Wii U and what he expects with Switch:

This week’s North American Nintendo Downloads are as follows:

Wii U Download

Brick Race – $1.49
Plantera – $4.99 (cross-buy)
Words Up! Academy – $2.99
Y.A.S.G – $1.99

Wii U Virtual Console

Mario vs Donkey Kong – $6.99

Update (2/9): Play-Asia is now taking pre-orders here.

Original (2/2): Hyrule Encyclopedia was revealed as the second entry in the Zelda 30th anniversary book series last month. Now Amazon Japan has shared the cover, attached above.

The book has 320 pages. It covers 50 keywords in-depth, over 2,000 items, enemy characters, and more, plus explanatory notes and storylines of each game.

Amazon Japan lists Hyrule Encyclopedia for March 1. However, we can confirm that this is an error, and it’s actually due on February 28.

More:

Quite a bit of new Monster Hunter XX info was released lately, partly through Famitsu, Gamer.ne.jp and the game’s official website. Adam “Gaijinhunter” Evanko has kindly translated this avalanche of new details, and Perfectly Nintendo have compiled them. A fair bit of new screenshots and artwork was also released alongside these new details.

First up, some details about the monsters. The Ouma Diablos can enter rage mode, in which its body starts boiling. The steam it emits can literally blow you away if you get too close. The new Deviant monster is the “Hidden Dragon” Malfestio, who has a variety of tricks up its sleeve: it can become invisible, steal items and create shockwaves with its wings. Finally, the following returning monsters will be in Monster Hunter XX: Nerscylla, Gravios and Basario.

Head past the break for new info on Hunting Arts and new moves for Prawlers / Palicoes:

Nintendo UK just published the image seen above on their Twitter account – it shows off all of the various features of the Joy-Con controllers that are not immediately apparently by looking at them, like the HD rumble, the NFC sensor, the IR motion camera and so on. Nothing new, but it’s nonetheless a nice overview and a reminder that there really is a lot of tech packed into these little controllers.
