Miitomo is the most-downloaded iOS game in the U.S. in its first day

Based on a report from market-tracking firm Sensor Tower (as relayed by GamesBeat), Miitomo is currently the most-downloaded game for iPhone and iPad in the United States. Even though it’s a free download, it’s an impressive feat for a title that only just launched today.
With its initial success, Sensor Tower believes that Miitomo could surpass 200,000 downloads on the iPhone alone after 24 hours given averages for past apps that have topped the charts. Another 20,000 downloads would likely stem from the iPad. Of course, this doesn’t account for how Miitomo has done on Android.
SEGA now publishing Atlus USA games
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 4 Comments
SEGA acquired Atlus back in 2013. That process is still ongoing, but is now starting to wrap up. Going forward, SEGA will be publishing all Atlus USA games as a means to streamline its business operations.
The good news is that this news will have little impact on consumers. SEGA isn’t ditching the Atlus brand, and Atlus will still act independently.
SEGA provided Game Informer with the following comment regarding how the Atlus acquisition has benefited the company:
“Since Atlus U.S.A.—renowned for the award-winning Shin Megami Tensei, Persona, and Etrian Odyssey franchises—integrated with SEGA of America, the ATLUS expertise has allowed SEGA to localize and publish popular Japanese titles in the west, including the Yakuza series, Project DIVA series, and more.”
In other news, Ivo Gerscovich has been named as the new head of the Sonic brand and its related businesses in North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. He’ll serve as the Sonic chief brand officer and senior vice president of SEGA of America.

Bill Trinen – more to come for Miitomo, future of Nintendo on mobile, possibility of physical My Nintendo rewards
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 11 Comments
IGN recently had the opportunity to speak with Nintendo’s Bill Trinen about Miitomo, Nintendo’s future on mobile, and My Nintendo.
First, here’s what Trinen had to say about Miitomo and keeping the app updated going forward:
“Our development team is looking at it very much as just the initial release. They do have plans to continue to update. They’ll probably start by looking at how people are playing with Miitomo and how they’re interacting with it. But I think they’re looking at a couple of different ways that Miitomo will grow over time.”
“Certainly some of the updates are the addition of new outfits or new versions of the Miitomo drop mini-game, which you play using game tickets. You can even see, on the simpler side, updates to the questions you’re asked. But I also think they’re going to be looking longer term at the opportunity to do bigger updates that might add in new features and expand the experience.”

Road Redemption dev now unsure if a Wii U version will happen
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 12 Comments
Road Redemption was thought to be heading to Wii U since the game’s original Kickstarter days. Unfortunately, it’s now uncertain if we’ll be seeing this one on the eShop.
The game’s developer wrote the following in a Kickstarter update today:
Hey guys, here is some clarification on Wii-U. Anyone who backed for Wii-U can definitely choose to receive a PS4 or Xbox One copy instead when those versions become available (or Steam version now). We have definitely not ruled out a Wii-U release, however due to the current complexity of the game and the weak hardware of the Wii-U, it will take a tremendous amount of optimization to make it happen. This would have to happen after PS4 and Xbox One versions are complete.
If we receive any clarify about the situation, we’ll let you know. It’d be a huge bummer if a Wii U version didn’t happen at this point.
