A bit of new information about Universal and Nintendo’s partnership was reported last month. At the time, it was confirmed that the collaboration between the two sides would extend to Japan. Sankei West shares a few more nuggets on this front in a new article.

Universal Studios Japan plans to spend 40 billion yen (should be roughly $350 million if I’m converting correctly!) on Nintendo attractions, which will be housed on the left side of the park’s main gate. The plan is to have the work done by 2020 in time for the Summer Olympics. It’s a large-scale investment – about the same scale as the Harry Potter-themed area that opened in July 2014.

Nintendo uploaded Japanese patch notes for Super Mario Maker’s next update, though it’s pretty much a recap of what was already revealed during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct. Version 1.40 will add new items including Skewer columns and keys, Super Expert Mode in 100-Mario Challenge upon clearing Expert mode, and ranking categories for world records and the number of first clears on courses on the Super Mario Maker Bookmark site. Nintendo is also making adjustments for a more pleasant gaming experience.

Super Mario Maker version 1.40 will be out next Wednesday. The download will require 361MB of free space.

Amazon Canada has started taking pre-orders for a bunch of upcoming amiibo. This includes Roy, Ryu, Famicom R.O.B., and the next wave of Animal Crossing figures/cards. The various items can be reserved here.

Nintendo uploaded a couple of musical pieces from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD to its YouTube page. Below, you can listen to the Hyrule Field and Midna themes. Both feature commentary from composers Toru Minegishi, Koji Kondo, and Asuka Ota.

Disney Interactive is among the latest companies to be pulling away from E3. GamesBeat received confirmation from the publisher that it will not have a booth at this year’s expo in June. Disney will instead opt for “additional direct to fan engagements through the summer this year.”
