A couple of days ago, SEGA Sammy posted its latest financial results. There was a downturn during the first quarter of FY2016, though the company’s gaming division performed a bit better.

Here’s a full breakdown of SEGA Sammy’s latest financials:

– SEGA Sammy (parent company of game publisher SEGA) said that gains in its gaming unit could not offset overall losses
– Revenue of ¥52.9 billion ($425 million)
– That’s down 41.2 percent compared to last year’s number of ¥90 billion ($723 million)
– Profit: ¥7.9 billion ($63.5 million) loss for the quarter
– That’s down sharply from a profit of ¥5.1 billion ($41 million) during the same period last year
– The poor results were attributed the downturn to a number of factors, including the economy
– SEGA said the gains in digital games for smart devices in Japan were not substantial enough to offset the “shrinking” packaged game software business
– SEGA’s gaming division (Entertainment Contents Business) did better than the company as a whole
– Entertainment Contents Business posted net sales of ¥41.9 billion ($336 million)
– That’s up 4.1 percent compared to last year
– Operating loss of ¥739 million ($5.9 million) during the period
– This number was better than the ¥1.4 billion ($11.2 million) loss during the same quarter last year
– In the packaged game business, SEGA sold 1.83 million games “in spite of the lack of sales of major titles”
– No specific sales figures for any SEGA games

The mobile edition of Pokemon Shuffle is releasing in Japan this month, a trailer shown on the territory’s TV programming reveals. A beta was previously held for Android users between June 30 and July 14. Pokemon Shuffle Mobile should be available in the west this year as well.

Just a few days ago, we found out about Monster Hunter X’s new Bird Wyvern-type monster known as the Hororo-Horuru. Capcom since updated the game’s website with additional details about the creature. Read up on the latest information below, courtesy of Siliconera’s translation.

– Prefers being in the dark
– Uses its sharp claws to strike down enemies from above
– Claws are located on its wings and feet
– They also have special scales inside their feather that can put you in an unconscious state upon inhaling
– Can shoot giant laser-like super sonic sound wave attacks
– These also come with a new type of status effect called the “Pinch” (or Danger) status
– There’s still not much known about the Pinch status

13AM Games has further discussed the cameo appearances of characters in Runbow.

For those who are unaware, the game features guest stars including Shovel Knight and Rusty from SteamWorld Dig. There are several other familiar faces as well.

Interestingly, it sounds like Nintendo assisted 13AM Games in getting these cameos into Runbow. Creative director and designer Alex Rushdy spoke with Nintendo Life about how the Big N ended up getting involved, as well as the partnerships with the other indies in general:

We owe some of that gratitude to Nintendo. We came up with a wishlist of developers that we love and admire, and Nintendo helped facilitate conversations with about 90% of the list. From the get go we wanted Runbow, our first game, to be a celebration of games we love and the spirit of community that local multiplayer games inspire. We’re pretty lucky to be here in Toronto where the indie scene is so supportive of one another. It was the kind of atmosphere and attitude we wanted to bring back to the industry when we got started, so we just started asking people if they wanted to join the run. The really humbling thing is when that 90% of the list started responding and saying they’d like to work with us. We feel incredibly lucky.

Pokemon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages premiered in Japan last month. A trailer for next year’s movie accompanies the film, and we previously heard that a new Pokemon was shown during the video.

We now have the first images of the new Pokemon. It definitely looks like the blob that was shown in fan sketches. For the time being, it’s still completely unclear what this new Pokemon is about.

Yesterday, Nintendo announced that Splatoon’s third North American Splatfest will be taking place next week. The same can now be said of Europe.

Europe’s third Splatfest in Splatoon begins on August 8 at 7 PM, and it will last through the following day. The competition pits the North Pole up against the South Pole.
