Double Switch: 25th Anniversary Edition is arriving on Switch next month, according to an eShop listing. The FMV mystery game’s release is planned for October 5.

Dragon Quest I+II+III Collection boxart

Play-Asia has posted the boxart for Dragon Quest I+II+III Collection, a physical bundle featuring the first three entries in the series for Switch. You can check it out above.
Square Enix announced that these trio of Dragon Quest titles will be released in the west, but only in digital form. The physical version for Asia will fortunately support English. If you’re interested, you can pre-order a copy on Play-Asia here.

Shortly after Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition was announced during the latest Nintendo Direct, a number of comparison videos were promptly uploaded online. YouTube channel Paradigm & Erico is now taking another crack at showing how the updated Switch version compares to the Wii original, complete with a 1:1 look at the environments. Why it’s taken Contra so long to return

It’s been nearly a decade since the last mainline Contra game. Next week, the franchise will finally be returning with Contra: Rogue Corps. We spoke with director Nobuya Nakazato at the Tokyo Game Show and asked why it’s the right time for the series to make a comeback.
Nakazato, who has worked on Contra for over two decades, told us that he’s personally been pushing for the IP’s return. However, there were a few barriers in the way, such as getting approval and the timing was never right. Finding the right team and the resources involved also played a role.

Contra: Rogue Corps will be getting free content after launch

Contra: Rogue Corps arrives on Switch next week. After its release, players can look forward to even more content that will be offered for free.
Director Nobuya Nakazato told us in a recent interview that post-launch updates will include more missions and weapons. He also indicated that players will have the ability to go beyond the current level cap.
As previously announced, Contra: Rogue Corps will also have a season pass. It features four DLC packs comprised of skins and in-game items.

Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has further discussed the origins of Chamber Dungeons in the Link’s Awakening remake on Switch.
In an interview with IGN, Aonuma noted that franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto asked him to come up with a title that would feature Super Mario Maker-like gameplay. Chamber Dungeons were eventually imagined to keep things a bit simpler.
Pokemon Sword/Shield – Sirfetch’d gameplay clip

The big Pokemon news of the week was the reveal of Sirfetch’d, the evolution of Farfetch’d. It’s exclusive to Pokemon Sword, but can be used in Pokemon Shield as well.

Long after it was announced, the Chapter 9 update for Celeste was recently made available. IGN spoke with developer Matt Thorson about the extra content and more in a new interview. Thorson explained why they’re not charging for the new content (and revealed that there isn’t much interest in a sequel currently), why it took so long to release, and commented on the game’s sales.
