After several months of silence, Project Octopath Traveler reappeared during the latest Nintendo Direct. It was one of the big games Nintendo ended up showcasing during the showcase. Even better, a demo was released shortly after the presentation.

The only official release window for Project Octopath Traveler is 2018. However, in a Nintendo UK post, the RPG was recently listed for the more specific Spring 2018.

Fast forward a couple of weeks later, and that mention is now gone. Nintendo UK wiped “Spring 2018” off of its site completely. In its place is the vague 2018 window. Was it a mistake, or did Nintendo say something it wasn’t supposed to?

Below are the latest Nintendo products that can be currently pre-ordered at retailers:

The third European Splatfest in Splatoon 2 has drawn to a close in what might be the strangest overall topic yet. Players were asked how they prefer the toilet roll to be hanging – front or behind.

Team Front Roll was by far the bigger choice in terms of popularity, and also secured the win in solo battles. While Team Back Roll won in team battles, it wasn’t enough to put them over the edge. Front Roll was victorious with a score of 2 to 1.

Ever since Dragon Quest XI was confirmed for Switch – which was quite a long time ago at this point – we’ve been wondering what sort of game it would be. Many had assumed that it would be based on the PlayStation 4 version, but Square Enix never actually came out with any sort of official word on that front. In fact, we’ve heard almost nothing about the Switch release.

The Unreal Fest East 2017 taking place in Japan today finally offers some notable information. Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii was in attendance, and strongly suggested that the Switch version will be based on the PlayStation 4 edition.

Nintendo announced a few days ago that the next Splatoon 2 update is scheduled for this coming week. Version 1.4.0 will be issued on Tuesday (North America) / Wednesday (Europe).

Nintendo ended up sharing the patch notes, but only in Japanese. However, thanks to Reddit’s talkion, we have a pretty good idea as to what will be changed. You’ll find a rough translation below. We’ll share the official patch notes from Nintendo when they’re ready – likely next week.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 was featured on Twitch’s New York Comic-Con stream this week with the latest footage. We have a recording of the segment below.

Super Mario Odyssey has a few different amiibo functions. We know that the new wedding versions of Mario, Peach, and Bowser have their own specialties. They grant temporary invincibility, provide a Life-Up Heart, and show the locations of regional coins respectively.

Every other amiibo also works with Super Mario Odyssey. Generally you’ll receive help when tapped. However, some also unlock special outfits.

If you’re curious which figures can be used to obtain costumes, this list should come in handy:

2017 is a special year for Sonic fans. Not one, but two new games are debuting this year. Sonic Mania launched in August, and we can also look forward to Sonic Forces in early November.

Even though these latest Sonic titles are totally separate games, there actually appears to be a connection between the two. Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka teased this during an interview at the Tokyo Game Show.

The final game played at the Nintendo World Championships 2017 tonight was none other than Super Mario Odyssey. Nintendo had the last two contestants play the game, which included some new footage. Watch the full recording below.

Today, Nintendo debuted a brand new trailer showing what’s to come for ARMS, as a new update is on the way. Version 3.2.0 arrives later this month.

Here’s the new video:

The big highlight of the trailer is towards the end when Nintendo shows a character who definitely looks a lot like Spring Man. What’s going on there?
