Switch

Nintendo has sent out word that the company will be distributing the new Switch game Schlag den Star, based on a popular German TV game show of the same name. The game will be available September 29, exclusively in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

The game’s trailer and a full report of the game’s features are below.

Schlag den Star will include:

– Elton will star as the host of the game, just as in the TV show
– 4-player multiplayer (1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2), also with CPU
– 2 new modes: one with 7 minigames and one with 3 minigames, the original mode with 15 minigames is still there
– In total there are 25 different games, including quizzes with more than 8000 questions
– Includes quiz games such as „Blamieren oder Kassieren“, „Quiz“, „Stimmt´s?“ (true or false quiz) und „Wo liegt was?“ (determine location of a city or sight on a map)
– Also includes action mini games that depend on the joy-con motion controls
– Includes a character creator
– built in Unity 3D

Nintendo’s regular news updates for Super Mario Odyssey continue on. On the game’s Japanese Twitter account, Nintendo showed off one of the new enemies you’ll see.

The screenshot above offers a look at Tomapon. These enemies are located in the Mount Volbono section of Luncheon Kingdom). When Mario steps on a Tomapon, its magma spreads, so you’ll need to watch out for these potentially dangerous enemies.

Nintendo has two rounds of maintenance scheduled for this week thus far. The first period will specifically impact certain network services for 3DS (online play, rankings, etc.) while the second will affect Nintendo’s portable in addition to Switch and Wii U.

The official Twitter account for Splatoon has revealed that Splatoon 2’s next update, 1.3.0, will be available to download this Friday, September 8th, at 10 AM JST (meaning it’ll drop late at night in Europe and during the early evening in North America on the 7th). Any details on what exactly the update contains haven’t been revealed, though it’s a pretty safe bet that there will be some balance changes.

It’s time for the latest Famitsu‘s most wanted games chart. Super Mario Odyssey moves up to #2, while Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon enter the top five.

Earlier tonight, the packaging images were revealed for the new Super Mario Odyssey amiibo. Fans have already been pouring over every tiny detail from the boxarts to see if anything is new. And as it turns out, it looks like we have the names of three more kingdoms – potential spoilers ahead.

Japanese magazine Famitsu put out its 1,500th issue this past week. In celebration of that, readers were asked to vote on the top 100 games of all time.

A number of Nintendo games made the list, including the a few in the top ten. These include Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Splatoon, which were selected fifth best and third best respectively.

The North American teaser site for Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is now live. You can head on over here to access it.

It’ll likely be at least a few weeks (if not a couple of months) before the full site goes live. However, it does currently have a trailer and some screenshots we’ve seen before. A general overview of the world and introductions to Rex and Pyra are also included.
