2023 Game Developers Choice Awards winne

GDC is taking place this week, and we now have the winners for the 2023 Game Developers Choice Awards.

A few Switch titles were nominated, but there ended up being just one category where a title on the console won. That would go to Citizen Sleeper, which was chosen for the “Social Impact Award”.

Deathwish Enforces physical

Deathwish Enforces is getting a physical release on Switch, Limited Run Games has announced.

A standard version and Classic Edition have been confirmed. With the latter, buyers will receive a soundtrack CD, badge, character art cards, and the game in an oversized clamshell case.

Switch update 16.0.1

Nintendo has just come out with the latest firmware update for Switch, with version 16.0.1 having been made available.

Like we’ve seen with the past few updates, this one is again about stability. Some of the more recent firmware upgrades have all been about that in one form or another.

Nintendo’s patch notes for the Switch version 16.0.1 update are as follows:

Sonic Frontiers Sights, Sounds, and Speed update

Original (3/20): SEGA has revealed that the first major Sonic Frontiers content update, which is dubbed “Sights, Sounds, and Speed”, is launching this week. Players can get their hands on it on March 22, 2023 (March 23 in Europe).

The update will include new challenge modes, a Photo Mode, and the jukebox. Here’s a few more details:

Remnant: From the Ashes has just landed on Switch, and we took a lot at the port to see how the finished product turned out. Sam discusses the title to see if it holds up on Nintendo’s hybrid handheld. Unfortunately, it seems to be among the Switch ports which leave a lot to be desired.

FIFA 23 Legacy Edition Game Trial

Original (3/13): Nintendo has announced that FIFA 23 Legacy Edition will be offered to Switch Online members in Europe as the service’s latest Game Trial.

Those with an active subscription can play the game for free starting on March 20, 2023. The full experience will be available until the end of the event. Additionally, save data is compatible with the full title.

LEGO 2K Drive

2K, Visual Concepts, and the LEGO Group have announced LEGO 2K Drive, a “AAA driving adventure game”. It will be available for Switch on May 19, 2023.

LEGO 2K Drive will feature an open world with single and multiplayer support plus the ability to create vehicles. There’ll be different biomes, races, minigames, challenges, collectibles, things to destroy, and a story. The customization system has over 1,000 unique LEGO pieces, but there’ll be standard cars to use from LEGO City, Creator, Speed Champions, and even the McLaren Solus GT, and F1 LM. Co-op will be supported, in addition to competitive multiplayer with up to six players – not to mention two-player split-screen.

Fire Emblem Engage Fell Xenologue DLC

Wave 4 of the Fire Emblem Engage Expansion Pass DLC, which is the Fell Xenologue story scenario, now has a release date. Nintendo and Intelligent Systems revealed today that it will launch on April 4, 2023 (April 5 in Europe).

Fell Xenologue is the final piece of major DLC for Fire Emblem Engage. This will be the most significant round of content as previous waves were focused on new characters.

Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution

According to this week’s issue of Famitsu, Compile Heart is developing Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution for Switch. A release is planned for August 10, 2023 in Japan.

The game, which takes place during an era of competing game studios, is a spin-off starring Adult Neptune. Here are some of the first details, courtesy of Gematsu:
