After originally hitting Wii U, Yoshi’s Woolly World is on 3DS as Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World. A comparison has now come in of the two versions. Since Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World is only at 60 frames per second on New 3DS, that version was specifically used here. The full comparison is below.

It’s been a busy time for Nintendo maintenance as of late. That continues later tonight, with two hours of maintenance planned for Wii U and 3DS.
The schedule is as follows:
– 5 PM PT (January 18) – 7 PM PT (January 18)
– 8 PM ET (January 18) – 10 PM ET (January 18)
– 1 AM in the UK (January 19) – 3 AM in the UK (January 19)
– 2 AM in Europe (January 19) – 4 AM in Europe (January 19)
Worth a reminder: 3DS’ maintenance scheduled for next week remains on track.

Yoshi’s Woolly World updated in Japan with Poochy amiibo compatibility

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World launches very soon, though Nintendo hasn’t forgotten about the original game on Wii U. Today, an update was released in Japan to add in Poochy amiibo compatibility. Poochy appears in the game when you scan the plushie.
The update, set at version 1.1.0, does not appear to be live in North America or Europe yet. It should be up closer to the western release date of Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild – voice acting comparison in various languages

Since the Zelda series hasn’t featured voice acting before, seeing it in Breath of the Wild is pretty darn special. And now a video has surfaced comparing the dubs in various languages. We have that attached below.

Reggie: Nintendo “thought deeply” about Wii U’s shortcomings, Switch improving upon communication and strong games

Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, speaking with GameSpot, mentioned that Nintendo “thought deeply” about Wii U’s shortcomings. He shared two reasons for the system’s failures.
First, Reggie admitted that the messaging behind Wii U wasn’t clear, stating that the “clarity of the consumer proposition” was not strong enough. He also pointed to a lack of steady flow of compelling games.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild – lineup of differences between Switch and Wii U from Nintendo

Nintendo has provided IGN with an listing of differences The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has on Switch and Wii U. While most details were known, the Switch edition is officially confirmed to run at 900p. Nintendo also mentions “higher-quality environmental sounds” on Switch.
Here’s the full rundown:
- Both launch on the same day, March 3.
- Both have a frame rate of 30fps.
- Both versions of the game offer the same content.
- On a TV, the Nintendo Switch version of the game renders in 900p while the Wii U version renders in 720p.
- The Nintendo Switch version has higher-quality environmental sounds. As a result, the sound of steps, water, grass, etc. are more realistic and enhance the game’s Open-Air feel.
- The physical copy of the Wii U version will require 3GB of available memory on the Wii U system or an external drive.
- Some icons, such as onscreen buttons, differ between the two versions.
- A Special Edition and Master Edition of the Wii U version are not available.

Update (1/17): Nintendo has penciled in some last-minute maintenance for both Wii U and 3DS today. The times are as follows:
– 4 PM PT – 7 PM PT
– 7 PM ET – 10 PM ET
– 12 AM in the UK – 3 AM in the UK
– 1 AM in Europe – 4 AM in Europe
Meanwhile, the 3DS maintenance mentioned below has been scheduled. That’s now set for the following days/times:
– 4:50 PM PT (January 24) – 6:30 PM PT (January 24)
– 7:50 PM ET (January 24) – 9:30 PM ET (January 24)
– 12:50 AM in the UK (January 25) – 2:30 AM in the UK (January 25)
– 1:50 AM in Europe (January 25) – 3:30 AM in Europe (January 25)
Original (1/16): Wii U and 3DS are both undergoing maintenance at the moment. But if that wasn’t enough, more maintenance will be taking place on Nintendo’s portable system tomorrow. Online play, rankings, etc. may be impacted.

Minecraft: Wii U Edition gets small bug fix update

A new Minecraft: Wii U Edition update is out now, though it’s not terribly important. The developers have addressed three small issues within the game.
The full patch notes are as follows:
– Fix for Mob Spawners not spawning anymore, and showing a Pig inside them.
– Fix for previously created signs being censored for players with restrictive Privacy settings.
– Fix for being able to escape the boundaries of the world by exiting a Boat at the edge.
