Walmart: Super Mario Maker with 8-bit Mario amiibo for $47

Nintendo shares a couple of new Super Mario Maker stats

Nintendo posted a couple of new Super Mario Maker stats over on its North American Twitter page.
We now know that over 7.2 million user-created courses have been made. Collectively, they’ve been played over 600 million times.
Nintendo also reconfirmed that Super Mario Maker has sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide. That tidbit was revealed through the company’s latest financial report.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U & 3DS patch 1.1.6 on the way

With the final piece of DLC having been released a while ago, it seemed like the latest entry in the Smash Bros. series was completed and would be seeing no more updates. However, both the 3DS and the Wii U version of the game will be updated to version 1.1.6 soon, Nintendo has announced.
As with previous Smash Bros. patches, Nintendo isn’t offering any detailed patch notes, only promising to offer an improved game experience. However, judging by the file sizes alone it seems like the patches on both platforms will bring about a significant amount of changes. You will need 61MB of free space on Wii U and a whopping 325MB on 3DS to apply the patch.
UK Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE website open

Nintendo of Europe has launched a special microsite for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE on its various websites; you can find the English one here.
There’s no spectacular new info to be found there, but it does offer a nice overview of the game. The site details the game’s story, characters, various gameplay mechanics and DLC. There’s also a screenshot gallery, showing off a bit more of the English localization.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE will be released in Europe and North America on June 24th.

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero – new promo art, vote on rival genie, retail deal in the works

Original (5/6): WayForward shared a new Shantae: Half-Genie Hero’s Kickstarter update just a short while ago. It shows off new promo art (see above), covers a rival genie vote, and confirms a physical version of the game.

To make matter’s worse, her replacement is snotty, stuck up, and none too easy to get along with. So – what’s this new genie going to look like? You can see all three of Matt’s rough sketches above, along with the cleaned up in-game sprite designs below. Which one strikes your fancy? Vote by clicking the link right here, and make your selections by May 13th, 11:59pm PDT. Let’s get voting!

WayForward also reveals that it’s working on a retail deal for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. The studio explains what’s happening regarding this in the Kickstarter post:
We’ve received a ton of requests for physical versions of Shantae. Thing is, WayForward is a game developer and a digital publisher – but not an authorized retail publisher. In order to make physical copies of our games for stores, or distribute games in certain countries, console manufacturers require us to work with an authorized publishing partner. You’ve seen us do this before; Square Enix published LIT for WiiWare in Japan, Capcom distributed the original Shantae cartridge in the US, and more recently Intergrow released the boxed version of Pirate’s Curse in Japan for Nintendo 3DS.

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Special Edition available for pre-order at Best Buy

Nintendo said that the Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Special Edition would only be sold at Amazon and GameStop, but that’s apparently not the case. Best Buy has now opened pre-orders here. Nothing wrong with having more choices!
