Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment arrives on Wii U this Friday, 3DS next Tuesday in North America

Shovel Knight: Specter of Torment has been out on Switch since the system launched at the start of March. However, Wii U and 3DS will soon be receiving the expansion as well.
Specter of Torment is set to release as a free update to Shovel Knight this Friday on Wii U in North America. 3DS will follow next Tuesday.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Guardian pushed into the desert to fight a mini-boss

You’ve already seen a Guardian and a Stone Talus battle it out in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. What happens when the same kind of Guardian enemy is pushed all the way into the desert to fight another mini-boss? Dorkly writer Tristan Cooper did just that this past weekend, and shared the results on Twitter with a video.
Sonic Boom trailer shows its Sonic Synergy origins

Sonic Boom wasn’t always imagined as a Wii U game. During early development, it started out as Sonic Synergy, and was different from the final product in quite a few ways.
Sonic Stadium managed to obtain an extended version of a Sonic Synergy trailer that surfaced this week. Different designs for Eggman, improved visuals, and more are present in the video. Have a look at it below.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has very few restrictions. Even in the opening section, you have a huge area to explore – that being The Great Plateau.
The only limitation is that you need to complete a few tasks before leaving The Great Plateau. Once that’s done, you’ll be given Link’s trusty paraglider. It’s then that you’re free to leave and explore Hyrule to its fullest.
Zelda: Breath of the Wild devs scrapped idea of stabbing and resting on weapons following Miyamoto feedback

Not every idea made it into The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. For instance, Nintendo considered including tiny people as well as the Hookshot and Beetle items.
Art director Satoru Takizawa and director Hidemaro Fujibayashi revealed another cut idea while speaking with GameSpot. At one point, players would be able to stab their weapon into a wall. Doing so would let Link recover stamina.
Midway through development, the team decided against including the mechanic. This was in large part due to feedback from Shigeru Miyamoto, who essentially vetoed the idea due to it being illogical. The developers thought about stabbing weapons into cracks or crevices, though that wouldn’t work either since you’d be limited in where it could be done.
