GamesBeat has received confirmation from SEGA that the company has laid off an unspecified amount of employees.
A statement provided to the site reads:
“As the gaming industry continues to evolve, companies must adapt and adjust in order to compete and succeed in an ever-changing environment. As a result of this, Sega of America has recently undergone a restructure that will enable the company to focus efficiently on developing new and existing content across digital platforms as well as continuing to focus on key brands for packaged goods.”
It’s unclear just how many staffers were affected. However, GamesBeat’s says that the “number is small.”
With just four hours remaining, Mighty No. 9 has managed to obtain enough funds on Kickstarter for another stretch goal. Total donations of the project, including PayPal, have now exceeded $3.7 million. That means a single-player Call stage and boss are in.
What exactly does this entail? It’s described as “an all-new single-player level, including a boss fight, where you can play as Mighty No. 9’s heroine, Call”.

If you pre-order Sonic Lost World from Amazon, you’ll receive an extra bonus. The retailer is handing out 25 extra lives. Amazon says you’ll “never have to worry again when taking those risky leaps and jumps with this bumper pack of extra lives.”
