Satoru Iwata may no longer be with us, though we do like to honor his memory when possible. And since Nintendo’s president/CEO would have been 57 today, we wanted to recognize his birthday. Well… we’re technically a day late. It’s December 7 in Japan, but his birthday falls on the 6th.
In any case, happy birthday to Iwata. Thanks for everything you contributed to Nintendo and the gaming industry as a whole. You left us much too soon!

Game Freak is currently investigating a minor glitch involving the Rocky Helmet item for Battle Spot battles. Rocky Helmet is a held item that makes an attacking Pokemon take a small amount of damage if they hit the holder. Normally with items or abilities like this, the Pokemon that made the attack will be counted as the winner if both faint and neither player has more Pokemon. However, if this happens with a Pokemon holding the Rocky Helmet, the holder will be declared the winner.
Pokemon Shuffle’s weekly update features a Mega Stone competition, this time a return of Mega Abomasnow. The competition will run until December 13. To earn the Abomasite (if you don’t already have it), you’ll need to be in the top 12,000 players in Europe, 18,000 players in North America, or 60,000 in Japan. Other prizes are as follows:
Anyone who already has Abomasite but qualifies to earn it will get a Level Up.
Three other stages have been added: a new stage featuring Tyrantrum, and repeat runs for Emboar and Infernape. Tyrantrum will run until the 13th, while Emboar and Infernape will run until the 20th.

Magearna is the very first Mythical Pokemon distribution in Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon. Find a trailer for the event below.
Data miners are up to their usual tricks, and have made an interesting discovery about Pokemon Sun/Moon. The two games actually have low-polygon models and animations of each Pokemon walking and running. On top of that, some of the code may hint at Pokemon being behind you.
You can see some of the animations here. Because the models have no textures, they were applied to models used in battle.
What might this mean? Well, it could be an innocuous discovery. Others are hoping it’s a sign of things to come in the rumored Pokemon Stars on Switch.
Several Starbucks employees have come forward with an apparent internal message pertaining to Pokemon GO. It points to something potentially huge happening with the mobile game later this week.
Assuming the message is legitimate – which seems very likely at this point – Pokemon GO is receiving some sort of update on Thursday. It states that Niantic’s title “is about to expand with new Pokemon” – plus a new Starbucks beverage to celebrate.
