We’ll have a better idea about what Miitopia is after the latest Nintendo Direct airs on Saturday. Even with the Japanese eShop preview, it’s still not entirely clear. It does at least give off the vibes of action and adventure.
Also, with one of the videos included in Miitopia’s preview, it appears that amiibo support will be included. As you can see with the screenshot we’ve taken above, the amiibo logo is featured quite heavily. It’s not an official confirmation, but it wouldn’t make much sense for it to be there if Nintendo didn’t have some plans for its integration.
Following today’s Animal Crossing Direct, Nintendo published a brief preview of Miitopia on the Japanese 3DS eShop. We now have the first images below.
In the eShop preview, you can select five Miis. These characters then appear in a pair of videos.
On a separate note, Miitopia can now be pre-loaded on the Japanese eShop.
Nintendo has shared a handful of new images from Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo, the update for the base game and retail re-release. Find a bunch of screenshots and art below.
Nintendo briefly touched on Miitopia during today’s Japanese Animal Crossing Direct. In it, we finally know that the game is heading to Japan on December 8. A special Nintendo Direct will also be held on November 5.
Miitopia is said to be an adventure story by players and who they choose. Actor Ryunosuke Kamiki delivered the news.
Nintendo delivered a brief Miitopia preview to Japanese 3DS owners, so footage will likely emerge soon.
Now that today’s Animal Crossing Direct has concluded, Nintendo sent out an official announcement about the new update available for New Leaf. Read it in full below for a full rundown of information.
REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 2, 2016 – In a new Nintendo Direct video presentation, Nintendo threw a rustic party for a free downloadable software update for the Animal Crossing: New Leaf game. The free update launched this morning alongside the Nintendo Direct, and will also launch as part of a packaged version with the full game called Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems in December. This updated version of the classic Animal Crossing: New Leaf game adds amiibo functionality, which opens up a whole neighborhood of fun new possibilities. By tapping the new Welcome amiibo cards for Animal Crossing: New Leaf – Welcome amiibo launching Dec. 2 and the 16 previously released Animal Crossing amiibo figures, you can welcome villagers in their very own RVs to a special new RV campground.
“This new update will appeal to people who never picked up the original game, and all its new features will excite fans of the Animal Crossing franchise,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “The update breathes new life into Animal Crossing: New Leaf and offers more fun compatibility for your amiibo figures and cards.”
Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s major update is now live. You can grab it straight from the 3DS eShop.
Today’s update adds in functionality for amiibo as well as other features. Details can be found in our Animal Crossing Direct live blog here.
