Splatoon’s first big content update is coming on August 6th. Alongside new game modes, weapons and more, a new song will also be added to the game. Briefly heard during the trailer for the update, Nintendo have now published a longer version. The song is called “Hooked” and it’s performed (in-universe) by the band Hightide Era.
D3Publisher continues with its SIMPLE DL series with a trailer for Vol. 39, which will be released on the Japanese eShop tomorrow. Check out the trailer below:
Update: Square Enix’s official press release says that when it comes to Dragon Quest XI, the company is “considering launching on Nintendo’s in development NX platform”. Dragon Quest X isn’t mentioned in the statement, though the same probably holds true for Dragon Quest X. It’s likely that both games will be formally confirmed when NX is revealed next year.
NX hasn’t been officially revealed by Nintendo yet, but the system already has a pair of game announcements. Square Enix confirmed during the “Dragon Quest New Title Presentation” today that both Dragon Quest X and Dragon Quest XI are coming to the system.
We’re assuming that NX is a console, which means that Nintendo fans would be able to play both versions of Dragon Quest XI. Here’s a look at the PlayStation 4 version in action:
Square Enix hopes to have Dragon Quest XI ready to launch within the series’ 30th anniversary. Officially, that’s in May of next year.
Square Enix announced today that Dragon Quest XI is in development, and it’s coming to 3DS in addition to the PlayStation 4.
Producer Yosuke Saito said during a presentation held in Japan that the game will be a “standalone single-player game”. The 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI features the same story as the PlayStation 4 release.
Toy Logic, who assisted with the development of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Kid Icarus: Uprising, is handling Dragon Quest XI for 3DS. Takeshi Uchikawa is directing. Akira Toriyama is handling character designs, and Koichi Sugiyama is working on the game’s soundtrack.
The 3DS version of Dragon Quest XI naturally looks quite a bit different to its PS4 counterpart. The top screen featured 3D images while the touch screen has sprites. Battles take place in both 2D and 3D.
Take a look at the first gameplay of Dragon Quest XI on 3DS below.
Square Enix is targeting Dragon Quest XI for release within the franchise’s 30th anniversary, which is in May of next year.
Square Enix provided a first look at Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 during a presentation for the series held today. Check out the in-game image above.
In Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3, Square Enix also revealed that it will be possible to ride any monster.
Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 will be released soon after the PlayStation title Dragon Quest Builders, which is due out this winter.

Mattel is teaming up with Nintendo for an interesting product collaboration. As discovered by Brazilian toy site T-Hunted, six Hot Wheels cars based on Mario games are on the way.
Four of the designs are inspired by Mario platformers, and feature a Super Mario Bros. 30th anniversary logo. The other two tie into Super Mario Kart and Dr. Mario.
Here’s the full lineup:
8 Crate Delivery (Dr. Mario)
A-OK (Mario Kart)
Cool-One (Super Mario Bros. 2)
Dairy Delivery (Super Mario Bros.)
School Busted (Super Mario 3)
Volkswagen T1 Panel Bus (Super Mario World)
All of these Mario Hot Wheels are releasing in October.
Nintendo is adding a whole bunch of content to Splatoon next week. Players can look forward to a level map increase, plus new matchmaking options, gear, and weapon types.
In its announcement today, Nintendo teased a sushi-chef costume as one of the upcoming outfits. But perhaps we already know what it will look like.
Does the image above look familiar? We actually posted it a few weeks back. That’s the winning entry for Famitsu’s recent contest, and what’s pictured above was the winning entry created by a fan. It was previously stated that this sushi-chef costume would be added to Splatoon in August, so there’s a very good chance we’ll be seeing it in-game next week.
Thanks to Matt for the tip.
A pair of DLC gameplay videos have come in for Daigasso! Band Brothers P. Below you’ll find songs for Fire Emblem Fates and Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer.
The folks over at Anime News Network have published an interview with Suda51. The two sides talked a bunch about No More Heroes, Killer7, and even the Silver Case DS port that never made it to market.
You can find a few excerpts that we’ve picked out below. For the full interview, head on over here.
