Bravely Default just hit the West earlier this year but it was actually an updated version of the original Bravely Default and was known in Japan as Bravely Default: For the Sequel. This updated version is getting a reprint in Japan under Square Enix’s “Greatest Hits” label and has the option for English, French, German, Italian and Spanish text in addition to the native Japanese.

Capcom Community Specialist Yuri today confirmed over on Capcom Unity that the Western release of Monster Hunter 4 will not be able to be played with the Japanese version due to the game’s being hosted on different servers. This should come as no surprise to those who played Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, as American and European players were able to communicate in that game but there was a disconnect with the Japanese version. Thankfully, you can still play online with anyone who has that version and not just people on your friends list.

It’s E3 week but that’s not stopping the daily screenshots! Today’s is Pokemon themed again as Sakurai loops some previous announcements back around:

Remember the video that introduced Greninja joining the battle? Every Pokémon that appeared in that video will make some kind of appearance in Super Smash Bros! By the way, here’s one of the Pokémon that didn’t make an appearance in that video–Meloetta. Its vocal attacks reflect off land forms, so they’ll be especially effective in a closed environment.

ON THIS EPISODE: A great round of what we played this week! Much more talk about Mario Kart 8 to kick things off, Laura and Austin discuss the strange world of Tomodachi Life, and Jack and Austin praise 1001 Spikes! It’s a good thing.

PLUS: We talk about some brief E3 predictions, and halfway through we decide to start marking down our YES/NO predictions in order to check them next week and see how we did.

AND: Listener mail rounds out the day, as usual. We talk about how to review games (as usual), some E3 stuff, and whether or not you can use your 3DS in a sauna.

E3 2014 is almost here!

Posted 10 years ago by in News | 11 Comments

Can you believe that we’re less than a day away from the (unofficial) start of E3? There will be plenty of media briefings to tune into, trailers to watch, and gameplay to check out.

Things will probably be a bit quiet tomorrow as Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, and Sony will be taking the stage. Nintendo has the day to itself on Tuesday, with lots of live-streaming coverage to follow throughout the week. And I’ll be here to cover it all for you lovely folks!

Here are the important dates/times you should be aware of:

Tuesday

Nintendo Digital Event – 12 PM ET / 9 AM PT
Live from Nintendo Treehouse – 2:35 PM ET / 11:35 AM PT – 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT
Super Smash Bros. Invitational – 7 PM ET / 4 PM PT
Super Smash Bros. Q&A / presentation – 10 PM ET / 7 PM PT – 11:30 PM ET / 8:30 PM PT

Wednesday

Live from Nintendo Treehouse – 12:15 PM ET / 9:15 AM PT – 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT
Mystery 3DS game Q&A/presentation – 9 PM ET / 6 PM PT – 10:30 PM ET / 7:30 PM PT

Thursday

Live from Nintendo Treehouse – 12:30 PM ET / 9:30 AM PT – 8 PM ET / 5 PM PT

This all brings us to a few important questions: what do you guys hope to see? Are there any particular announcements you’d like to see Nintendo (or a third-party) announce? Are you looking forward to anything in particular? Sound off in the comments section below!

More:

Just how long will Nintendo’s Digital Event on Tuesday be? Japanese website NicoNico provides an estimate of sorts, listing a half hour time slot.

As we tend to say in these sorts of situations, that’s not an official confirmation. I’d also guess that it’ll run slightly over a half hour if NicoNico is accurate. I could see it being something like 35 minutes long. We’ll see.
