Posted on 5 years ago by Oni Dino(@Oni_Dino) in Podcast | 0 comments
Hello, my Fatal Cuties! This week on NEP, we got hit with some Pokemon leaks while recording, but we keep our reactions spoiler-free. We chat some great games we’ve been playing with Atelier Ryza, Luigi’s Mansion and more, then we muse on 3DS games we’d like to see make the jump to Switch. Somehow, we end up arguing with each other over Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask. How. How even did that happen. Come have a chill game time with us.
If you’re enjoying NEP, please consider giving us a 5 star review on Apple Podcasts, aka new iTunes. It’s incredibly helpful in getting us exposed to new listeners through algorithms, so we would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you for listening!
This week, the podcast is sponsored by Koei Tecmo. Check out Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness & the Secret Hideout, out now on Nintendo Switch.
[Review] Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders 2

System: Switch (eShop)
Release date: October 31, 2019
Developer: Atypical Games
Publisher: Atypical Games
Of all the genres most cruelly under-represented in modern gaming, I feel it’s the humble air-combat sim that tops the list. What was once a regular showing during the 90’s and 00’s has since withered away in significance, and outside of a handful of current and last-gen Ace Combat games, there has been little else to fill the void – especially on Nintendo’s hybrid console. As a result of this drought, I couldn’t deny my intrigue once I learned of Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders 2’s presence in the Switch’s release calendar. The mere mention of high octane dogfights and World War II aircraft are a sure fire way to get me interested (I may still be 12, need to check). What I failed to anticipate was the mobile heritage of the franchise that makes itself blisteringly apparent once you fire the game up.

Rumor: Nintendo scrapped various 3DS plans after poor Mario & Luigi sales, including new Fire Emblem remake
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Rumors | 0 comments
After the Switch debuted in 2017, it was no surprise to see surprise to see support for the 3DS wind down. The new console had quickly proved to be incredibly successful, and Nintendo needed to prepare a number of experiences for its latest platform. After Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn this past March, that was pretty much it for the 3DS.
Had Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr.’s Journey sold better, perhaps 3DS could have seen a few additional games. Imran Khan, a former senior editor at Game Informer, claimed in a recent episode of the Kinda Funny Games Daily show that a new Fire Emblem remake was planned for the dedicated handheld – among other plans. Khan now speculates that we could see it on Switch instead.

Game Freak on why Pokemon is finally implementing auto-saves with Sword and Shield
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
For the first time in the series, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield will feature auto-saves. That may not seem like a big deal since it’s relatively simple, but it’s nice to see Game Freak finally implementing the feature.
Auto-save will regularly be running in the background while you play. If you happen to forget about saving manually or your system runs out of battery life before charging, you’ll be able to rest easy knowing that your important progress won’t be erased.
Speaking about the decision to include auto-saves this time around with Eurogamer Portugal, producer Junichi Masuda and director Shigeru Ohmori explained:

Now Playful is putting the finishing touches on the new version of the game exclusively for Switch, and will be in charge of releasing the game directly.
Speaking about the origins of New Super Lucky’s Tale on Nintendo’s console, director Dan Hurd told Nintendo Everything:

No difficulty options in Pokemon Sword/Shield, some support for Poke Ball Plus
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 0 comments
Difficulty options have never really been associated with the Pokemon games. Pokemon Black 2/White 2 did give the idea a shot with its Key System feature, but generally speaking, the series has usually implemented just one type of experience.
As expected, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield continue this tradition. Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori told Eurogamer Portugal that the two Switch games don’t have a particular option to change the difficulty. The developers said:
