Octopath Traveler

Octopath Traveler came out at the tail end of last week, where it did pretty well in the UK.

GamesIndustry reports that launch sales for the Switch RPG are nearly double that of Bravely Default. Sales more than doubled the sequel, Bravely Second.

System: Switch (eShop)
Release date: July 9, 2018

Pato Box is one of the weirdest games I’ve played in recent memory. On the surface, it almost looks like it has some sort of fusion between Punch Out!! and Sin City sprinkled with Hotline Miami, but once the game begins and gameplay actually starts, you begin to notice a shift in tone, progression, and even genre going from section to section. It’s a unique experience that may not be for everyone, but should be commended for blending tons of styles and creating something as goofy as it is intriguing.

Sushi Striker

Just prior to the launch of Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido, Japanese magazine Famitsu spoke with a couple of the game’s developers. Producer Hitoshi Yamagami and director Kaori Ando were both brought in for the discussion. Yamagami previously worked on the likes of Dr. Mario, Panel de Pon (referenced in the interview), and Fire Emblem while Ando has been involved with Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (also brought up in the interview).

The talk was very interesting, as we’re able to learn how Nintendo came up with the concept for Sushi Striker and how the project turned out the way it did in the end. The original plan was for something quite different, and various genres were considered.

Nintendo Switch

During an interview last month, GameDaily spoke with Nintendo of America head of sales and marketing Doug Bowser. A number of topics were discussed, including Switch’s audience.

According to Bowser, the system has a “broad” demographic. While games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and mature titles “skew a bit older,” Nintendo has also seen titles including Kirby Star Allies and Splatoon 2 appealing to a younger segment. A wide array of players are also experiencing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 fan Moosehunter has shared a lot of early information about the RPG before it was officially announced. It’s how we found out about things like Shulk and Fiora in the Challenge Mode Pack, among other things.

Though it was initially discovered a few weeks back, new datamined information has been floating around this week. Continue on below for more details.

With every major Pokemon game, there is usually a decision involved. Nintendo often publishes two versions which fans often choose between. That doesn’t go for everyone as some folks will pick up both, but players generally settle for one version.

Pokemon: Let’s Go is this year’s entry, and it’s significant since it’ll be appearing on Switch. But which version will you be going for: Pikachu or Eevee? Perhaps you’re in that small group interested in both versions? Or maybe you’re buying neither! Let us know in the comments below.

The Octopath Traveler collector’s edition, known as the Traveler’s Compendium Edition in PAL regions, is something special. The map, coin and art are nice and all but be careful because the surprise waiting on the other side of the box might pop up and surprise you.

Steven Universe: Save the Light

According to a listing on VideoGamesPlus, a Steven Universe & OK KO Bundle is coming to Switch. The retailer does not offer any specifics aside from a tentative October 30 release date and $49.99 CDN price point.

Despite the lack of details, we have a pretty good idea as to what this listing entails. Steven Universe: Save the Light came out late last year. OK K.O.! Let’s Play Heroes, another Cartoon Network-based game, then launched this past January. It’s possible that both are heading to Switch in a new bundle at retail.

Octopath Traveler

It’ll be a few days until we have a truly good idea as to how Octopath Traveler is selling in Japan. When Media Create publishes its next report on Wednesday, first week data for the RPG will be revealed.

We do at least have one encouraging tidbit from Square Enix directly. On the official Twitter account, an apology was posted for the game selling out, which is happening during a three-day weekend. Square Enix recommends considering the digital version to fans who are looking for a copy.

2064: Read Only Memories Integral

2064: Read Only Memories Integral was originally planned for April 5 on Switch before being delayed. MidBoss has been keeping quiet since, but we finally have an update.

A listing on the North American eShop provides new details on 2064: Read Only Memories Integral. The biggest thing is the new date: July 26.
