Nintendo nearing agreement with Illumination Entertainment for animated Mario movie
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 29 Comments
The Wall Street Journal is reporting on a massive agreement that is wrapping up between Nintendo and Illumination Entertainment. According to the publication, the two sides will be teaming up for an animated Super Mario Bros. movie. Illumination Entertainment has produced animated films for Universal Pictures in the past.
The Wall Street Journal says that one sticking point is how Nintendo wants to ensure it will be involved enough in the creative process. Shigeru Miyamoto has apparently been part of the talks and will likely be a producer on the movie, along with Chris Meledandri.
Currently, just one Mario movie is planned, though the agreement could allow for more. If everything goes through, Illumination’s Paris studio Mac Guff will animate the project. Since it’s in early stages of development, don’t expect to see the film for a few years.

Rumor: Switch getting two Ace Attorney compilations, along with brand new entry
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 67 Comments
Last week, Capcom confirmed that Ace Attorney is heading to Switch in some fashion. Kotaku UK shares more on the company’s apparent plans.
If the site is to be believed, two compilations will be launched in the first half of the 2018 / 2019 financial year, which falls between April and October 2018. The initial release will be a bundle of the first three Ace Attorney entries. The other, naturally, is a bundle of games four through six.
Kotaku UK adds that Capcom is also working on a brand new, mainline Ace Attorney title for Switch. It’s supposedly scheduled for a late 2018 simultaneous global release. The site goes on to say that it will have “five cases at launch, and features Phoenix Wright returning as the playable protagonist of the story.”

Mario Party: The Top 100 release moved forward in Europe, now launches December 22nd
Posted on 7 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in 3DS, News | 1 Comment
Less than two weeks ago, Nintendo announced the release date for Mario Party: The Top 100 in Europe. The game was set to launch on January 5th next year. In a somewhat surprising move, Nintendo announced today that the game would instead launch on December 22nd this year. Usually when release dates change it means they’re delayed, so this is definitely a welcome surprise. The reasoning for the release date change is unclear, though perhaps Nintendo wanted to profit from some last-minute Christmas shoppers.
