Splatoon 2 update scheduled for August (version 5.3.0)

The next Splatoon 2 update is about a month away. Nintendo will be issuing version 5.3.0 on August 18 in North America and August 19 in Europe, the company has announced.
The update is expected to include game balance fixes for weapons that saw a big increase in usage rate from version 5.2.0. We’ll report back with the full patch notes when they’re made available.

Cadence of Hyrule – Character Pack footage

Cadence of Hyrule has three DLC packs planned, with the first one having been released yesterday. The Character Pack features five additional characters, including Impa, Shadow Link, Shadow Zelda, Aria, and Fredrick. View some footage of the new DLC below.

Splatoon 2 – three-year anniversary art, Chicken vs. Egg Splatfest re-run announced

To celebrate the third anniversary of Splatoon 2, Nintendo has shared some special art. We’ve included the image above.
Nintendo has also announced that it’s bringing back the Splatfest in which players need to decide on whether the chicken or the egg came first. It’ll begin on August 21 at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET.

Deadly Premonition 2 update out now (version 1.0.2)

The first update for Deadly Premonition 2: A Blessing in Disguise is now available. Publisher Rising Star Games hasn’t shared patch notes, but we do have news from director Hidetaka Suehiro as well as player reports.
According to Swery, the team addressed transgender misrepresentation issues. Deadnaming and misgendering lines from York were removed or edited. With dialogue that was edited, those lines are not currently voiced. It’s unclear if that’ll change in the future.
Arcade Archives Koutetsu Yousai Strahl coming to Switch this week

Arcade Archives Koutetsu Yousai Strahl will launch on Switch this week, Hamster has announced. A worldwide release is set for July 22.
Koutetsu Yousai Strahl originally came out in 1992. The shoot ’em up game was developed by UPL.
Pricing for Arcade Archives is set at $7.99 / €6.99 / £6.29.

Earlier today, Nintendo published its annual report for 2020. One section delves into the coronavirus and again touches on how the company has been impacted, including development schedules and release of products.

Early information is in regarding Paper Mario: The Origami King’s initial sales in the UK.
In its first week, the game came in at the second spot. Even more notable is that it’s now the fastest-selling Paper Mario game having narrowly surpassed Super Paper Mario. Additionally, first week sales were larger than the launch of Paper Mario: Color Splash and Paper Mario: Sticker Star combined. Keep in mind that digital sales for The Origami King aren’t considered here.

Limited Run Games reveals collector’s editions for Return of the Obra Dinn, The friends of Ringo Ishikawa

Limited Run Games has revealed a pair of collector’s editions for upcoming physical releases on Switch.
First up is Return of the Obra Dinn. Copies include the game, soundtrack, two double-sided posters and the book, all wrapped in special packaging. Pre-orders open on July 24 at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET and then again at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET.
