All sorts of messages and special drawings have been sent out on social media over the past day or so to celebrate the start of 2018. Nintendo’s various social media accounts got in on the fun, and even Retro Studios sent out the rare tweet to ring in the new year. Other official accounts are also wishing their fans well, including Sonic and many others.

Super Mario Run is kicking off the new year with a special event. Starting today, the appearance rate of 6-star items in Remix 10 has been increased. This will be live until January 4.

Usually we’re accustomed to seeing a new Splatoon 2 weapon towards the end of the week, but Nintendo is shaking things up. The Octobrush Nouveau is set to go live tonight / tomorrow.

You can expect it at the following times:

– 6 PM PT
– 9 PM ET
– 2 AM in the UK
– 3 AM in Europe

Tequilla Works posted a new developer diary for The Sexy Brutale, a game that recently made its way to Switch. The first video below features the studio at Gamescom 2016.

It’s time for the latest Famitsu’s most wanted games chart. Project Octopath Traveler quickly slips out of the top 10, but Shin Megami Tensei V lands at #9.

A number of new items have been added to Miitomo. Among the selection you’ll find in the app, the following are now available:

– Celestial rings
– Checkered kimono
– Striped kimono

Best Buy Canada recently posted an interview with Andrew Scharf, a lead producer at Bethesda Game Studios . The two sides caught up to chat in-depth about The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim for Switch.

Scharf had a number of interesting things to say, including the experience of bringing Skyrim to Switch and the technical challenges involved. He also spoke about how the Zelda collaboration came to be – did you know that director Todd Howard brought the idea up to Nintendo?

Onrush is a new arcade-esque racer from Codemasters. It’s received a decent amount of buzz since its initial reveal, and some would say that it would be a good fit on Switch.

A Switch port hasn’t been ruled out, but it’s not something that’s happening quite yet either. Director Paul Rustchynsky recently told Redbull, “We haven’t started looking at what it would take to get up and running on Switch, but we are huge fans of Nintendo and the Switch is a fantastic piece of kit.”
