Amazon starting to sell digital Wii U and 3DS content
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 20 Comments
Update 2 (9/1): Bumped to the top. Amazon has now launched its Nintendo Digital Downloads page here.
Update: This actually looks more extensive than I originally thought. You can purchase digital codes for a good chunk of Wii U and 3DS games that have hit retail thus far (thanks astrogamer). For example, consumers can buy a code for Smash Bros. Wii U right now. You’ll find a decent amount of codes listed for Wii U here
, and codes for 3DS here
.
Starting tomorrow, Amazon will begin selling digital content for both Wii U and 3DS. This includes games available on the eShop, Virtual Console releases, and DLC.
Here’s the lineup thus far:
Wii U
Golden Sun
Hyrule Warriors: The Hero of Hyrule Pack
Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Mario Kart 8 Bundle Pack
Pushmo World
Yoshi’s Island: Super Mario Advance 3
3DS
Kirby Fighters Deluxe
The Legend of Zelda
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
Super Mario Bros. 3
It’s a bit of a limited selection, but it’s certainly a nice start. I’ll be curious to see if additional content is added in over time.

A look into the development of Super Mario Sunshine
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, News | 7 Comments
The latest report from German website Nintendo-Online looks into the development of Super Mario Sunshine. There are a couple of new tidbits, along with ones that are older but aren’t as widely known.
Here’s what the site shared with us:
– An unused camera behaviour in the game’s code suggests that the developers at least experimented with a multiplayer mode. Although it was dropped for unknown reasons, the early beta multiplayer camera is still functional.
– At Space World 2001, Miyamoto presented the first trailer to journalists. It is famous for showing a very early version of Sunshine. According to a complete video of the presentation, which hasn’t surfaced until now, Miyamoto stated that the material was confidential and was not supposed to be published. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EU2-T6evbjQ) This didn’t prevent IGN from sharing a filmed version of that footage.
– Work on Sunshine began around Late 2000/Early 2001, so that the game was in development for only around one and a half years. It heavily suffered from time constraints, which even Miyamoto admitted 2003 in an interview.
– Sunshine was originally planned to feature some kind of train system to connect the various areas.
– At least five worlds were cut from the final game. Their names can still be found in the game’s code.
– Corona Mountain was supposed to be a world like all the others with multiple episodes.
– Sunshine originally run at 60 fps, even the version shown at E3 2002 mere weeks before release was 60 fps. The final game was downgraded to 30 fps for unknown reasons.

Nintendo will be holding a Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary Festival in Japan on September 13. It’s now confirmed that series creator Shigeru Miyamoto and longtime composer Koji Kondo will be appearing at the concert.
On that day, it seems that Miyamoto and Kondo will play Super Mario Maker. They’ll also discuss things about Mario during its design phases, as well as thoughts on the work itself.
Other guests set to appear at the Super Mario Bros. 30th Anniversary Festival include CLACHIP, YMCK, and even Mario himself.
