The Fall has reached its Wii U stretch goal on Kickstarter. That target was set at $29,000, but more than $35,000 CAD has been raised in the campaign thus far.

It may not have actually mattered had The Fall missed out on its Wii U stretch goal. Previously, developer Over the Moon gave a strong indication that the game would come to the eShop before the necessary funds were obtained.

The Wii U version of The Fall “just shortly after the initial PC/Mac release,” according to Over the Moon.

Update 2: The description does appear to mention “new” game after all, but that could still be a reference to X/Y. Make of this what you will. It doesn’t make much sense for us to speculate any further!

Update: A second translation of NHK’s synopsis gives greater credence to something such as Mega Pikachu as opposed to an entirely new game:

“He was working on a game this summer, which would change/modify Pikachu… but since there are many people who have loved Pikachu for many years, he was/is worried that it’s popularity could drop all it once if not done right. What was his decision at that time?”

Guess we’ll see what this is about on the 28th…

Original: Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara will be making an appearance on a Japanese television program on October 28th. A synopsis provided on NHK’s website seems to reveal the existence of an unprecedented, unannounced Pokemon title – one with a heavy Pikachu focus.

The description mentions that the Pokemon project started development this summer. Supposedly, it will change Pikachu, and Ishihara has some concerns as to how this will affect the creature’s popularity.

Details will be shared during the interview later this month.

Apparently, there’s some speculation that the change could be Mega Pikachu. Some fans also wonder if the game will be compatible with Pokemon X/Y. If so, Pikachu’s change could be brought over.

Toki Tori 2’s level editor, long thought to be coming to Wii U, isn’t necessarily something that may make its way to the platform.

A Miiverse message from the studio’s Martijn Reuver indicates that “the Wii U level editor is unfortunately in the fridge” while Two Tribes focuses on “a new game concept”. Reuver did later say that he’s hopeful that the feature will eventually make its way to Wii U.

Continuing on the topic of Two Tribe’s next game, Martijn posted the image above along with the following:

A quick sneak preview of our new game (work in progress)… What do you think?

No matter what Two Tribes’ next title is, it sounds like the studio will be seeking funding through Kickstarter:

Nintendo recently held a press event to show off the latest from Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. You can find details from Polygon’s report below – most of which pertain to multiplayer.

– When playing in multiplayer, Donkey Kong will be automatically granted to a buddy of the player’s choice
– This is instead of requiring them to find one in the level
– Control individual characters on-screen at the same time
– If one player dies, the other player can continue on
– Players have a set number of lives they can use
– Rescue downed players by breaking them out of a barrel
– Dixie moves more gracefully than Donkey/Diddy
– Dixie can move pirouettes across the stage or using her ponytail to helicopter over enemies
– Shake the Wiimote to have Dixie use her hair to slap the ground and shake things up
– This is unlike Donkey Kong, who pummels with his fists
– While on Donkey Kong’s back, Dixie can fire attacks at enemies with bubblegum gun
– Similar to Diddy Kong’s peanut popguns
– When Donkey Kong tumbles over the edge, Dixie will go down with him
– This takes two lives instead of one
– Some stages have players needing to be mindful of their surroundings and help your partner clear a path
– One level with fiery hazards has you pulling eggplant-like fruits filled with water and hurling them onto blazing bushes and enemies
– Minecart levels coming back
– In multiplayer while playing minecart levels, Dixie can ride on Donkey Kong’s back and assume a passive role, or jump in alongside him and duck to avoid damage
– Boss battle: fight against a Viking hat adorned seal that slides from one side of the stage to the other
– Time your attacks and work with your friend to more easily defeat the boss by landing jumps on his back
