Back in 2002, Nintendo established the iQue division – otherwise known as Shenyou Technologies – to make new versions of its products in China. A video games ban had been in place, making the iQue line necessary.

Years later, the subsidiary is turning into a game programming / tool programming assistant for Nintendo games. It’s gone from a sales agency classification to development, testing and localizing. In fact, as iQue explores game development, it is now hiring new game programmers and testers.

Back in May, the Super Mario Bros. The Movie Archive came across a tape containing an extended rough cut of the infamous 1993 film. Nearly 15 minutes longer than what was shown in theaters, it includes new and extended scenes.

The first clip from the extended cut has now come online. It takes place during the first act as Mario and Luigi are still working in Brooklyn. They take on a job at the Riverfront Cafe and encounter the Scapelli plumbers, Doug and Mike. This is different from what viewers originally saw, as when Mario and Luigi get there, a Scapelli van is already on the scene and the action then quickly cuts to Daisy at the Digsite.

Last year, ELEAGUE and Nintendo partnered to showcase the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Invitational 2018 in a three-part series. The two sides are working together once again for another television highlight based on one of the latest tournaments held back in June.

ELEAGUE Presents The Nintendo 2019 World Championships will debut on August 25 at 1 PM ET on CBS. The three-episode event “will take fans backstage and behind the controller with professional players as they compete across three Nintendo Switch video games; Super Mario Maker 2, Splatoon 2 and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.”

The remaining two episodes will be shown on September 7 at 2 PM and September 14 at 1:30 PM.

A new filing has appeared in the FCC database for a wireless SNES controller, which has fans speculating about what Nintendo has planned for the future.

Unfortunately, the application is lacking in important details. However, we do know that the device ID is BKE HAC-042. This is notable since it indicates compatibility with Switch. All other wireless game devices for Switch have come with the “HAC” prefix as part of their FCC IDs.

Assuming the filing represents an actual product Nintendo has planned, perhaps we’ll be seeing SNES games on Switch in some fashion.
