Rumor has it that Wii U and 3DS will soon be receiving a shared eShop balance. It’ll work like this: if you add funds on the Wii U eShop, the total will be carried over to the 3DS store – and vise versa.

Don’t expect to hear anything about this today, though. The rumor, which comes from Emily Rogers, isn’t expected to be covered during the Nintendo Direct presentation in just a couple of hours.

Nicalis has been a pretty big 3DS supporter. The publisher brought Cave Story, NightSky, VVVVVV, and Ikachan to the 3DS eShop. More games such as 1001 Spikes and Yatagarasu are in the pipeline, too.

Nicalis may also have another unannounced project on the way. The company wrote on Twitter earlier tonight:

Image & Form will be continuing on with the “SteamWorld” name after this week’s release of SteamWorld Dig.

According to CEO Brjann Sigurgeirsson, the team is “following up in the SteamWorld series with a radically different sort of gameplay.” Sigurgeirsson hopes that the new title will be ready in the somewhat near future.

He said:

When CastleStorm was initially revealed, Zen Studios hinted at a release on Nintendo systems. Months went by without any sort of announcement regarding additional platforms, but we assumed a Wii U version was in the works – and now we’re one step closer to receiving a confirmation.

We recently spotted a Wii U listing for CastleStorm on the USK, a ratings board in Germany. The site also has entries for PlayStation 3 and PS Vita versions.

In hopes of obtaining an official confirmation, we reached out to Zen Studios. We were first told that the company intends “to bring CastleStorm to as many platforms as possible.” “Timing is always a challenge”, Zen Studios also said when it comes to an announcement, “however Nintendo fans will be enjoying more Zen Studios games this year”.

So that’s kind of like a confirmation, without obtaining an actual confirmation. Based on the USK ratings and Zen Studios’ non-denial, I’m pretty sure we’ll be seeing CastleStorm on Wii U (and PS3, PS Vita) as originally expected.
