Update: Files verified – Rumor: Street Fighter’s Ryu to be included in future DLC for Super Smash Bros.
Posted on 9 years ago by Kirara Koneko(@KiraraKoneko) in 3DS, News, Rumors, Wii U | 100 Comments
Update by Brian: Cutting Room Floor, a website that specializes in unused/cut content, has been able to verify the authenticity of the Ryu sound files (thanks Anthony):
Our crack research team has confirmed the existence of the Ryu sound files in the #Smash4 3DS update.
— Cutting Room Floor (@CuttingRoomWiki) April 15, 2015
Of course, this doesn’t necessarily confirm that Ryu will be included as upcoming Smash Bros. DLC. We’ll just have to wait and see how everything pans out!
According to a poster on Reddit, who is claiming to be a part of the 3DS modding scene, there has been code discovered buried in the latest update to go live for Super Smash Bros. that would lead some to believe more characters will be to come in future DLC. It would appear that sound files have been interpreted as clues for two possible future additions.
One file is a Victory sound for Roy from the Fire Emblem series. The second one is also a sound file that includes the Ryu music from Street Fighter II. At this stage this is purely speculation as Nintendo has been known to leave unused data in games in the past.
We are sure we will see more DLC in the future for Super Smash. Bros. but for now this is just a rumor.

Wii U setting makes it possible to disable sleep mode with external hard drive
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U | 7 Comments
There’s a small but notable option hidden inside the Wii U that most system owners are likely unaware of. Essentially, users can either enable or disable a USB storage device’s sleep function while the Wii U is turned on.
The setting can come in handy for those who have an external hard drive connected to the Wii U. NeoGAF’s HUELEN10 explains the benefits of keeping the option disabled:
Let’s say you are playing a game in where you don’t save often and the drive spins down. Then, an epic cutscene comes up and the game saves before a boss and instead of doing it and moving on, the game gets delayed, possibly even choppy, while the drive is spun up again to save your game. The threshold for some drives is as little as 5 minutes too, and spinning your drive up and down like that over the course of hours for multiple times is very less than optimal.
If you’re interested in accessing this setting, follow these steps:
1. Boot up your Wii U.
2. Go to settings.
3. Go to data management.
4. Press and hold down on the D-Pad for half a second.
5. While holding down down on the D-Pad, press and hold the + and – buttons and keep holding them until you see the prompt above.
7. Select disable; you will be advised that this setting might consume more energy.

Xenoblade talk – cut ideas, Shulk in Smash Bros., New 3DS porting difficulties, and more
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS, News, Wii, Wii U | 2 Comments
Game Informer was able to conduct an interview with Monolith Soft’s Tetsuya Takahashi, Nintendo, and Monster Games about Xenoblade Chronicles. Takahashi was able to speak about the original game while discussing cut ideas like wanting to have the ability to fly. He also revealed Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai wanted Shulk in the Wii U/3DS games, and had the idea for the bathing suit skin. Other than that, there’s some Xenoblade Chronicles 3D-specific comments from Monster Games.
We’ve rounded up all of the various quotes below. For those that are interested, you can find Game Informer’s original article here.
