Takamaru was considered as a playable fighter for Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 105 Comments
Yesterday, a short video surfaced in which Masahiro Sakurai stated that Mewtwo DLC for Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS was nearly finished and will be released “pretty soon”. But that wasn’t the only significant piece of information shared by Sakurai.
According to Sakurai, Takamaru from The Mysterious Murasame Castle was initially considered as a fighter for the new Smash Bros. entries. Unfortunately, he didn’t make the cut due to the perceived lack of familiarity among Nintendo fans. This took place before development on Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS actually began.
We’ll also mention that Sakurai is aware of the crazy Miiverse requests for fighters, like Goku and SpongeBob. Naturally, there’s no way such characters would make it into Smash Bros.

Rodea: The Sky Soldier introduces the “R series” and more
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News, Wii U | 3 Comments
This week’s issue of Famitsu has a big update on Rodea: The Sky Soldier. The magazine introduces the “R series” of humanoid robots, new characters, and more.
R Series
One portion of Famitsu’s article reveals information about the “R series”. This is a series of humanoid robots with the power of flight.
The emperor of Naga empire, Giado, launched the “R project” to produce robots to use as a spearhead in invading other countries. Rodea has lost the memory of that event, and is now protecting the people of Garuda by confronting his former allies. Rodea was a prototype, so the other members of the R series are more powerful.
Speaking of Giado, Famitsu has a couple of tidbits about the character. He was formerly a good father of Cecilia. That all changes, and he has since enhanced his body with machine parts.
Below is the full rundown of the R series:

[Review] Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+
Posted on 9 years ago by Vincent Ward in 3DS, Reviews | 3 Comments
System: Nintendo 3DS
Release: February 10, 2015
Developer: Access Games
Publisher: Bandai Namco
Author: Vincent W.
For those who aren’t aware, I’m not what you’d consider an action fan. While most people love to sit back and cause explosions and mayhem, I’ll typically be found cutting grass in the fields of Hyrule and unleashing my Wii Fit Trainer fury in Smash Bros. The last game I thought I would find myself enjoying was an aerial combat simulator, but with Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy+, I loved flying through the skies with my highly fashionable Princess Peach-skinned jet and saving the world. However, this title holds one fatal flaw that made every neat looking explosion feel not quite as awesome in the long run.
Famitsu DS+Wii teases announcement of a big game
Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, General Nintendo, News, Wii U | 8 Comments
The latest edition of Famitsu DS+Wii has started to make its way out to readers in Japan, and there’s a noteworthy inclusion in the magazine. Towards the end, there is a tease regarding a big announcement about a major upcoming title for Nintendo systems. Sadly, there isn’t much said about this, but we’ll be hearing about it in the next issue of Famitsu DS+Wii.
Some Japanese news websites have speculated that the announcement could be related to Dragon Quest news teased by V-Jump. In a blog post on Dragon Quest X, V-Jump mentioned upcoming news on the series, saying that something concrete would be announced soon. Given that Dragon Quest X is available for the Wii U and 3DS, perhaps the announcement is for an expansion or new game in the series. Others have speculated that the news is related to Level-5’s Vision 2015 event early next month, which promises a look at upcoming titles like Yo-Kai Watch 3 and Fantasy Life 2.
Whether or not these rumors are related remains to be seen, and we’ll likely have to keep on speculating on any future announcements until next month’s Famitsu DS+Wii goes on sale.

Masahiro Sakurai, director of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS, provided an updated on the upcoming Mewtwo DLC at a recent event in Japan. Thankfully, it sounds like it won’t be too much longer before the character becomes available.
Sakurai said that work on Mewtwo “is pretty much done” and the DLC will be released “pretty soon.” Fans are advised to wait for an announcement from Nintendo.
