Nintendo Switch

Nintendo has updated its maintenance schedule for the coming week, with more downtime planned. Aside from a session for the Switch eShop, Nintendo Switch Online save data will be briefly impacted, and another period is lined up a few days from now involving network services.

Here’s the full schedule:

Hollow Knight: Silksong

There’s no doubt that if you played the original Hollow Knight, you’ll be interested in Hollow Knight: Silksong. However, Team Cherry is hoping to grab new players as well.

The studio told EDGE this month that Silksong is intended to test players in a “comparable” way to the first game. At the same time, co-director Ari Gibson mentioned that the new title, with its own lore and characters, is intended to be “a perfect jumping on-point for new players.”

Gibson added:

Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World The Prophecy of the Throne

Spike Chunsoft has shared an official unboxing video for the Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne Collector’s Edition. Watch it below.

Re:Zero – Starting Life in Another World: The Prophecy of the Throne releases for Switch on January 28 in Japan, January 29 in North America, and February 5 in Europe.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

Earlier this week, THQ announced that it’s bringing Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning to Switch. The RPG will be out in just a couple of months.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will be sold physically (complete with all content on the cartridge), and we have the boxart above. Amazon is currently taking pre-orders here. For those in the UK, it’s up here.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is lined up for a March 16 release on Switch. More information and a trailer can be found in our original post here.

Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

One of the new aspects of Bowser’s Fury in Super Mario 3D World for Switch involves Bowser Jr. The character will be with you along the way and provides help by fighting enemies as well as uncovering power-ups. A friend can even play as Bowser Jr. in local co-op.

It looks like you’ll actually be able to adjust how often Bowser Jr. provides help. Nintendo sent out a Japanese screenshot of the settings for Bowser’s Fury, and while we can only seen one of the options, it equates to something like “from time to time” or “a little”.

Here’s a look at the settings:

Olija

IGN has shared a new animated trailer for the cinematic action-adventure game Olija. Take a look at the video below.

Olija launches for Switch via the eShop on January 28.

Monster Hunter Rise

Capcom recently shared an interview with Monster Hunter Rise sound director Kosuke Tanaka and lead composer Satoshi Hori. Unsurprisingly, much of the discussion centered around the game’s sound and music.

Tanaka and Hori commented on topics like the sound effects, recording the music, and approach to returning tunes from past titles. We also get some insight into why Capcom wanted to have the hunters talk this time around.

Here’s the full discussion:

Calico

Another update has gone live for the Switch version of Calico. The game is now at version 1.03, containing a few more features, bug fixes, and more.

The official patch notes are as follows:

Among Us

According to a new estimate from SuperData, the Switch version of Among Us sold 3.2 million copies on Switch during December. It was “the highest-earning version of the game for the month,” the report states.

That number is not official, so we do again need to stress that this is an estimate. Still, anything even remotely close to 3.2 million would be quite impressive.

We can say for a fact that Among Us has repeatedly topped the Switch eShop charts since launch.
