Game Freak on why Tembo the Badass Elephant isn’t planned for Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 75 Comments
SEGA and Game Freak announced its new collaboration title today: Tembo the Badass Elephant. The game is coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC as a digital download, but not Wii U.
James Turner, director and character designer at Game Freak, was recently asked by Gamereactor about why Tembo isn’t coming to Nintendo’s console. Turner replied:
When I was writing the presentation documents for this game, I drew a mockup poster, and I put the Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox logos at the bottom. It seemed to fit, and it happened to stick that way. We thought about other hardware during development, but our hands were pretty full with those three platforms!
Turner was also asked about the possibility of bringing the game to other platforms in the future, such as 3DS. To this, he said: “Information on the potential for other platforms is classified. Right now our main mission is deployment on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.”

Curve is aware of OlliOlli’s cross-buy exploit, still intends to support the feature going forward
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, News, Wii U eShop | 2 Comments
There’s been a very tricky topic making the rounds today. I’m not going to go into details here, but an exploit has been discovered involving OlliOlli’s cross-buy functionality.
Curve Digital, the game’s publisher, is definitely aware of what’s going on. The following tweet was just published on Curve’s Twitter account a short while ago:
We're flattered people are prepared to compromise their account security for a copy of OlliOlli on 3DS, but we wouldn't recommend it.
— Curve Digital (@CurveDigital) March 11, 2015
Curve Digital spokesperson Paul Watson also told Eurogamer:
“Before opting in to Nintendo’s Buy One Get One Free initiative, the company made clear that we could do it one of two ways, and both were potentially open to exploitation beyond our control. Despite this, we’re very happy with the cross-buy sales on Nintendo’s platforms so far, and will be taking part in the initiative again where possible.”

Poncho in the works for Wii U
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Poncho is making its way to Wii U, courtesy of Delve Interactive and Rising Star Games. A trailer can be found above.
Originally announced last year, Poncho is a new open-world, 2D platformer. Here’s an official overview:
Humanity has been extinct for centuries, leaving their robotic creations behind to fend for themselves. These robots have formed tribes and communities of their own, trying to make a way of life without purpose now their masters are gone.
On your journey, you will have to make some hard choices and ultimately decide the fate of humankind. With multiple areas and paths to explore, you’ll never be able to see everything in a single play through. Poncho is about making you feel like a kid again, exploring outside and looking under rocks to see what you find. There’s treasure in every nook and cranny in this world, and nothing is quite as it seems… There’s always more than one way to accomplish your goals.

Have Trine 2: Director’s Cut? Get 20% off Trine Enchanted Edition (and vice versa)
Posted on 10 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 4 Comments
Frozenbyte has announced a special discount for Trine Enchanted Edition. If you’ve purchased Trine 2: Director’s Cut on Wii U, Enchanted Edition will be available for 20 percent off.
This works the other way around as well. If you end up picking up Trine Enchanted Edition but have not yet bought Trine 2: Director’s Cut, that title will be discounted by 20 percent as well.
Frozenbyte CEO Lauri Hyvärinen said:
“We’re extremely happy and excited to finally bring the origin story of the Trine series to Wii U. We’ve had a great reception with Trine 2: Director’s Cut ever since the launch of the console. To reward our loyal fans on Wii U, we came up with the Trine Series Fan Discount, a promotion that hopefully makes up for the delays we’ve had with the release!”
Trine Enchanted Edition launches this Thursday in North America. The game is “likely” to arrive sometime this month in Europe.
