Dark Souls: Remastered

In a previous interview with Automaton Media, key developers from Virtuos (Andy Fong and Lukas Codr) sat down to detail their porting process for Switch games. Keen readers might recognize the studio’s name from the likes of Dark Souls: Remastered, BioShock: The Collection, XCOM 2 Collection, and more.

During the interview, Virtuos confirmed that the studio has a dedicated team to work on Switch projects. The developers also spoke about developing for TV / handheld modes and where the company’s strengths lie when it comes to handling Switch ports.

ITTA

Today, Super Rare Games announced a parntership with Glass Revolver and Armor Games Studio on a physical release of ITTA. The bullet-hell, boss rush adventure title will be offered in standard and steelbook forms.

5,000 copies will be produced in total. There’ll be 3,000 units for the standard edition and another 2,000 for the steelbook version.

Pre-orders open on January 7 at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET / 6 PM in the UK / 7 PM in Europe. Super Rare Games will be selling copies here.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The annual EDGE rewards were published in this month’s issue, which officially released today. There are no to top ten picks like in 2019, but several winners were chosen across various categories, including Hades with the “Revolution Award” and Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the “Zeitgeist Award”.

Nintendo Switch

Nicole Jones purchased a used Switch from seller Jaime Macdonald through Facebook Marketplace on March 18. All was well with the system, but after her kids tried going online, major problems developed. It was simply impossible to connect online in any capacity, and Jones learned that the device had been permanently banned by Nintendo.

Nintendo customer support indicated that systems can be blocked due to unapproved activity such as piracy and hacking. The ban on Jones’ units went into effect on March 26, which was several days after the used purchase. However, Nintendo said that it can take weeks to detect and investigate unauthorized activity prior to a ban.


2021 is looking like a big year for Monster Hunter. Along with Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin are heading to Switch.

Monster Hunter developers Ryozo Tsujimoto and Yasunori Ichinose recently shared a brief video message on social media. It’s now confirmed that more information about Monster Hunter Rise will be shared in January, which makes sense given that a demo will be released during the month and the game isn’t terribly far away.

The Pokemon Company has teamed up with the International Space Station for a live stream on New Year’s Eve. To celebrate the event, Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield players can now obtain a special Pikachu.

The Pikachu has the moves Thunderbolt, Swift, Wish, and Celebrate. It’s also holding a Comet Shard.

Tsukihime

During the Fate Project New Year’s Eve TV Special 2020, a remake of Tsukihime was announced for Switch. It’s planned for release in Summer 2021 in Japan.
