Mario & Luigi Brothership name

December 5: The Mario & Luigi: Brothership name has been well-received by fans, but it seems that it wasn’t an easy process to get there.

Associate producer Tomoki Fukushima and producer Akira Otani spoke about this in a new interview published today. It turns out that Nintendo and Acquire brainstormed over 100 possible names for Mario & Luigi: Brothership. Also shared is that both the west and Japan are using the same title for the first time.

The developers of Mario & Luigi: Brothership have opened up about what it was like creating music for the game, including shifting composers from Yoko Shimomura to Hideki Sakamoto and some initial feedback from Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto. This information comes from a Famitsu interview with director Haruyuki Ohashi and producer Akira Otani.

Shimomura previously handled music for the series previously. However, with the franchise seeing various changes including Acquire taking on development, Otani said they “decided to get a fresh start”.

It’s another year in the books for Nintendo Switch, and for what is most likely the console’s final stretch, it wasn’t quite as empty as people were expecting. We’re going over all of Nintendo’s news, announcements, and games from this year and asking you the question: how would you rate Nintendo’s 2024 on a scale of 1-10?

Freedom Wars Remastered physical

It seems that Freedom Wars Remastered won’t be available physically in the west, but in Asia, Bandai Namco has other plans. The game will be sold at retail in the region – and English support will be included.

Remember that Nintendo Switch is a region free console. That means the system is compatible with all games regardless of region. If you import the physical version in Asia, it can be played just like any other title.

Rainy Frog will be producing a physical release for Night Slashers: Remake on Nintendo Switch in Japan, the company has announced. It’s due out on February 20, 2025.

Night Slashers: Remake previously made it to Nintendo Switch in the west. However, thus far, it’s only been available as a digital download. Nintendo Switch is region free, so importing a copy won’t be an issue.

Animal Crossing New Horizons best-selling physical game

Animal Crossing: New Horizons set another record within the past few days, and it has now become the best-selling physical game of all time in Japan.

Famitsu reported today that for the week of December 16, another 15,536 copies were sold at retail. That brings the game’s total physical sales to 8,008,343. No other game in Japan has ever managed to reach that mark – Pokemon Red and Greed previously held the record having sold 7.93 million copies. If digital sales were included, the number for Animal Crossing: New Horizons would definitely be much higher.
