Switch

Now that Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age has arrived on new platforms, Digital Foundry has taken a closer look at the RPG from a technical perspective. We’re able to see how the Switch version holds up against the Xbox One release.

First up, Final Fantasy XII is just 12GB on Switch. That’s in comparison to the file size of 26GB for the Xbox One version. The two versions are very similar, and the only notable different on Switch is that there are some lower resolution textures.

Nintendo Switch Online

Each month, Nintendo adds a new wave of NES games to the Nintendo Switch Online service for subscribers. That will continue once again in May, and we should be finding out about the latest round of titles soon. However, Nintendo’s very own website appears to have outed the lineup early.

The site lists the following as upcoming titles:

Serious Sam 4

Croteam has long been known for its work on the Serious Sam franchise, including the upcoming Serious Sam 4. The developer also has another hits on its hands with the 2014 first-person puzzler The Talos Principle. Both of these IPs could very well be finding their way to Switch in the future.

The first bit of news comes from Croteam CTO Alen Ladavac and marketing manager Daniel Lucic. In an interview with Wccftech, the two revealed that its new engine for Serious Sam is being ported to Switch. On top of that, Lucic revealed that The Talos Principle is “likely” for Nintendo’s system.

Nintendo and Intelligent Systems are back again with another character introduction for Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Today’s update is for Jeralt, who is voiced by Akio Ootsuka in the Japanese version.

Jeralt play the role of the protagonist’s father, but is also a veteran knight. He previously served as the head knight for the Church of Seiros, and was considered to be the strongest knight ever. He ended up leaving his position and became a mercenary. Sadly, his wife has already passed away. Jeralt returns to the Knights of Seiros towards the start of Fire Emblem: Three Houses after students are saved from the Officer’s Academy.

Here’s a closer look at Jeralt:

River City Girls

Just a couple of weeks ago, WayForward and Arc System Works announced a new partnership on the creation of River City Girls. Details are mostly nonexistent at this time, including platforms. However, it now appears that a Switch version is almost confirmed, as it’s now been rated for the console in Korea.

Here’s the full announcement for River City Girls:

In last month’s issue of Nintendo Dream, the Japanese magazine published an interview all about the Rune Factory series. The main focus was Rune Factory 4 Special and topics like bringing back the game for Switch, but there was also some brief Rune Factory 5 talk.

We’ve translated the full interview, which you can find below. It’s with Yoshifumi Hashimoto, president and representative director of Hakama as well as Marvelous game planner Shirou Maekawa.

Limited Run Games has announced its next release. Aegis Defenders, the action-platformer and tower defense strategy hybrid that launched the eShop last year, will be getting the physical treatment.
