Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 20 Comments
The Super Mario Odyssey debut trailer has now been seen over ten million times on Nintendo’s North American YouTube page. It’s the third most-watched video on the channel, following only behind the initial Switch reveal and Zelda: Breath of the Wild trailer from E3 2016.
Speaking of Zelda, the new video is the fourth most-watched item on Nintendo of America’s YouTube page. It’s done well for itself with 6.5 million views.
Other view counts from the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 are as follows:
– Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: ~ 3 million
– Sonic Mania: ~ 2.5 million
– Splatoon 2: ~ 2 million
– Arms: ~ 1.75 million
– Xenoblade Chronicles 2: ~ 1.25 million
– Super Bomberman R: ~ 1.2 million
– 1-2-Switch: ~ 1.1 million
– Puyo Puyo Tetris: ~ 400,000

Video: First look at the Switch touchscreen in action
Posted on 7 years ago by Zack in Switch, Videos | 35 Comments
You can now see the Nintendo Switch touchscreen in action for what appears to be the first time, thanks to a video posted by Twitter user Dystify.
The footage is from Skylanders Imaginators, and is the first time we’ve been able to see the Switch’s touchscreen being used. While there’s not much shown off outside of moving around a menu, it’s still a first look at a major feature of the console. If you’re curious, you can watch the video below.
Exclusive footage of #NintendoSwitch‘s touchscreen being used. (First I’ve seen.) Looks very responsive! pic.twitter.com/EIdpmrZRbV

LEGO Worlds on the way to Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 9 Comments
Warner Bros. already announced that LEGO City Undercover is heading to Switch. On top of that, it looks like we can expect LEGO Worlds on the platform as well.
TT Games head of design Arthur Parsons confirmed on Twitter:
@jamievere currently we have announced that we are planning to release LEGO City and LEGO Worlds on switch
— arthur parsons (@arthur_parsons) January 23, 2017
Warner Bros. describes LEGO Worlds as “an open environment of procedurally-generated worlds made entirely of LEGO bricks which you can freely manipulate and dynamically populate with LEGO models.” The game lets users make anything and everything one brick at a time or by taking advantage of large-scale landscaping tools. Characters and creatures interact with you as well as each other in various ways.

Nintendo details plans for Switch hands-on time at PAX South 2017
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 39 Comments
As previously announced, Switch will be present at PAX South in just a few days. Nintendo shared more details about its plans for the expo today.
Anyone with a PAX South badge can stop by and play games such as Zelda: Breath of the Wild, 1-2-Switch, Snipperclips: Cut it out, together!, Splatoon 2, Arms, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Bomberman R, and Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers.
As for the setup, Nintendo sent over the following:
“The main stage at the Nintendo booth will feature hands-on time with different Nintendo Switch games. But instead of a traditional booth setup, these games can be experienced in creative environments that show off the unique functionality of the Nintendo Switch system. For example, games can be played in the cross-section of an airplane to show how easy it is to take Nintendo Switch with you anywhere. Other games will be set up in a living room to highlight that Nintendo Switch is also a home gaming system that can be played on a TV. In addition to all the awesome Nintendo Switch experiences, the main stage at the Nintendo booth will feature hosted competitions, live demonstrations, video presentations and other fun Nintendo surprises.”
PAX South 2017 will take place between January 27 and January 29. Nintendo’s interactive booth (No. 11255) will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM each day.

Spoilerific Zelda: Breath of the Wild guide seemingly pulled from Amazon
Posted on 7 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch, Wii U | 2 Comments
A couple of days ago, a listing for Piggyback’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild guide appeared on Amazon UK – not really a remarkable occurrence by itself, if not for the fact that the description of the guide revealed quite a bit about the game, including the total number of shrines. It seems like Nintendo caught wind of this, as the listing for the guide has now disappeared from Amazon UK, resulting in a 404 error. A search turns up nothing either.
Strategy guides accidentally revealing details from a game is nothing new, though most of the time the revealing text is just edited or deleted. It’s definitely unusual for the entire listing to be (temporarily) deleted. It remains to be seen how Amazon UK will handle pre-orders for the guide while it was still available.

Epona is in Zelda: Breath of the Wild
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U | 15 Comments
Epona, Link’s trusty horse who has appeared in various Zelda games, will be returning in Breath of the Wild. Producer Eiji Aonuma shared the news with IGN Portugal. However, he wasn’t willing to reveal specific details about Epona’s appearance, including where to find her.
Aside from Epona, various horses can be found throughout the world in Breath of the Wild. Horses you encounter will need to be tamed. Each one also has unique stats, including strength, speed, stamina, temperament, and bond. Horses can be named as well.

EA exec talks more about Switch, says Nintendo has been listening to third-parties
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 74 Comments
Executive vice president Patrick Soderlund Patrick Soderlund made some comments to IGN a few days ago about EA and Switch. Famitsu also caught up with him following the Nintendo Switch Presentation 2017 last week, where FIFA was announced for the new platform.
When asked about future titles on Switch, Soderlund said:
“I only spoke about FIFA today, but our company’s structure lets us release all sorts of games for every platform, so we’ll go wherever the gamers go. I think Nintendo Switch will put Nintendo at the forefront of the game industry once again. Their approach is quite different from anything they’ve done in the past – they’ve listened to EA, Activision, and other companies since the beginning of the Switch’s development, so we’ve been involved throughout the whole process. They teamed up with us because they wanted to guarantee the console would be successful. Doing business with Nintendo is very important for us… We’d like to bring more and more games over for everyone.”
Following EA’s announcement of FIFA on Switch, one rumor came out claiming that it could be based on PlayStation 3 / Xbox 360 versions of the game. Thus far, it’s only been officially stated that the title has been “custom built” for the new console.

Playtonic will have news on letting Yooka-Laylee backers move from Wii U to Switch by month’s end
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 6 Comments
Playtonic announced last month that the Wii U version of Yooka-Laylee is cancelled. In its place, the team is doing everything it can to make a Switch version possible.
Those who are looking to change their backer copy from Wii U to Switch won’t have to wait much longer. On Twitter, Playtonic said that this should be possible by the end of the month. There may potentially be news about a physical version for Switch as well.
Thanks to Jake for the tip.
