Nintendo TVii cancelled in Europe

Nintendo TVii is no longer happening in Europe. A message posted to the official Nintendo of Europe website confirms the cancellation.
In its notice, Nintendo cites the “extremely complex nature of localising multiple television services across a diverse range of countries with varied licensing systems” as the reason for not releasing the Wii U application in European territories.
Nintendo’s full message reads:
At Nintendo of Europe, we continue to challenge ourselves to develop a range of entertaining experiences for all to enjoy. Due to the extremely complex nature of localising multiple television services across a diverse range of countries with varied licensing systems, regrettably we have taken the decision not to launch the Nintendo TVii service within the European region. Although on this occasion we did not anticipate such challenges, we will always strive to develop a range of entertaining experiences for all our users to enjoy.
With this in mind, Nintendo of Europe has launched the Nintendo Anime Channel, a new video-on-demand service on Nintendo 3DS which offers users the chance to stream anime series from the likes of Pokémon, Kirby, and Inazuma Eleven. New content will be added regularly and access to this service is granted simply by downloading a free application from Nintendo eShop.

Some new information has surfaced regarding amiibo functionality in both Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Mario Party 10 thanks to Nintendo’s German website. As it turns out, all figures will be compatible with the two games.
For Captain Toad, players will be able to obtain 1-UPs by placing amiibo on the GamePad. Mario Party 10, meanwhile, provides scratch tickets by using amiibo. This grants you some Mario Party points.

Mario Party 10 amiibo bundle up for pre-order at Best Buy

Best Buy is joining the lineup of retailers to be taking pre-orders for the Mario Party 10 amiibo bundle. You can submit an order here. You’ll get a copy of Mario Party 10, plus a Mario amiibo from the Super Mario line.

Legend of Kay HD now listed on Amazon U.S. as well

Legend of Kay HD is looking like more of a sure-thing at this point. The game, which first appeared on Amazon Germany last week as “Legend of Kay Anniversary”, is now being listed on Amazon U.S.
as well. Legend of Kay HD’s Amazon U.S. listing carries a $25 price point and tentative May 29 release date.
Nordic Games still has not officially revealed Legend of Kay HD. If there’s an announcement, we’ll have it here on the site.
Project Ukulele art

Project Ukulele – the Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor from Playtonic – is featured in this month’s EDGE. The magazine shares concept art, which you can find above.
In the magazine, Playtonic lead and Gavin Price said: “There’s been so much pent-up passion for doing something like this, because we’ve all been sat on a lot of these ideas since Banjo-Tooie came out.”
The next step for Playtonic is to make a proof-of-concept. The company will then upscale to an “N64-size” team of between 10 to 15 staff, and several former Rare employees are in waiting on these positions.

Another update on Devil’s Third from Itagaki

Tomonobu Itagaki has taken to Facebook and has shared another status update for Devil’s Third.
Itagaki said that Devil’s Third is “an unprecedented massive shooter to be played by tons of players”. He adds, “The game contains a lot of elements well over the volume to be provided by two regular games.” Such a large amount of content means the game must be properly developed before it’s ready for launch.
Itagaki goes on to say that Devil’s Third “will be the biggest game of life for me and my colleagues”. The project required two years of concept work, plus four years for actual development.
Itagaki closed his update by thanking fans for their patience.
Japanese Mario Party 10 site open, screenshots and footage

Nintendo has launched the official hub for Mario Party 10 in Japan which features the following facts about the game:
Game requires 3.5GB of free space.
1 to 5 players.
1 save date per user, 35MB per save.
Miiverse integration, used in one puzzle apparently (might need someone to help translate that bit).
Playable with Wiimote and GamePad.
Compatible with amiibo ( Mario, Luigi, Peach, Yoshi, Toad, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Rosalina, Wario), unlocking some special boards based on those characters.
